Chronicle is a superhero sci-fi filmed via found footage. Unlike other found footage movies, Chronicle manages to give an emotionally investing story, ground breaking special effects for it's budget, and one of the most climatic battle sequences of 2012. It's a stunning superhero film that really demands your attention, believe the hype.
In a year full of superhhero films like avengers, spiderman and batman, chronicle still manages to stand out.
A brilliant use of the found footage genre. The special affects are excellent, but what really sells this film is its characters. Easily the best film ive seen this year, and having seen avengers assemble, thats a massive compliment.

Chronicle managers to stretch the bounderies of the found footage theme to new dimensions. The first thing that grabbed me was how well written the roles were as a teenage social outcast and his two new friends find a something very strange in a underground cave. This gives them superpowers, but there is always a price to pay as what at start is a gift ends up being a curse as the outcast uses his new powers to get revenge on the ones who bullied and humiliated him. For a low budget film the effects are great and the script is very smart and funny at the beginning turning much darker in tone towards the end. The Blue Ray also contains the extended cut to what is hopefully the start of a franchise. Chronicle does live up to the hype.
