After the shambles that was WRESTLEMANIA 27 (MIZ in the main event? come off it),they had to give us quite some show,and in my view they did.
A world title match to start again,which i thought was daft,but went with,that match being SHEAMUS vs DANIEL BRYAN. There's 2 ways of looking at this blink and you'll miss it match,very amusing or rip off. My first reaction was that it was a rip off,both wrestlers deserve better than an 18 second match. However,i have watched this match a few times now and do see the funny side,but when you consider the amount of time wasted on stupid things during the show,this should've been the classic it wasn't.
Next was RANDY ORTON vs KANE,a good little encounter,gets their feud going,does what it has to do,i had no problem with this other than it could've done with more time.
BIG SHOW vs CODY RHODES for the i.c. title,the story being CODY having a laugh at BIG SHOW's lack of wresltemania moments,so this is BIG SHOW's revenge,i liked it,several entertaining minutes and i thought the end was right.
KELLY KELLY and MARIA MENOUNOS (...?) vs BETH PHOENIX and EVE,truth is BETH deserves better than this tag filler,but if MARIA was injured as stated,she did a good job,shame about the dodgy looking smudge on her backside. It was just about an okay match.
Oh boy! UNDERTAKER vs TRIPLE H in HELL IN A CELL with SHAWN MICHAELS as ref',what a match! This was incredible,the cell was there for keeping the action in the ring area more than a weapon,but it was used and had it's role. SHAWN did a great job of making it clear he was torn as to who he wanted to win,the 2 wrestlers show why they are the best in the business,a story brilliantly told in a classic battle that was wrestled better than most of today's stars could manage. A really good amount of time was given too,leaving me entertained throughout,there was even a little blood and it was quite brutal,with loads of nearfalls this was just what i hoped for,excellent!
Now the 12 man tag for either JOHN LAURINAITIS or TEDDY LONG to be general manager of both RAW and SMACKDOWN,TEDDY's team of SANTINO MORELLA,R-TRUTH,KOFI KINGSTON,GREAT KHALI,ZACK RYDER and BOOKER T. go against JOHN's team of DAVID OTUNGA,DOLPH ZIGGLER,JACK SWAGGER,MARK HENRY,DREW McINTYRE and MIZ. It's a fun match to watch and not a waste of time in my opinion,several good moments,maybe too many wreslters to really get into the action but it works for what it had to do,the end was a little predictable,but still done well,very good,just nothing special.
C.M. PUNK vs CHRIS JERICHO for the wwe title,another darn fine match. This brilliantly wrestled encounter,showed how heated their feud had become and the back and forth action let both men shine,with a nice amount of time given,though you know they could've entertained for longer. Several highspots and a good job done,loved this match.
The main event that's been a year in the making,THE ROCK vs JOHN CENA,last year post WM 27 this match was set,and now and again hyped to get to this point.
A lot of viewers were left disappointed with this one,i'm not sure why. Okay it has a few moments where not a lot is going on,weardown holds and stuff,but it still held my interest and was a lot better than last year's joke of a main event,and from what i understand most fan's were pleased with the result. I saw this as having many great spots,ROCK still looked great and CENA does what CENA does and i would say he does it well. Once again a really good amount of time was given to this entertaining main event,i can't really fault it,was it the best match on the card? in my view no,but it was easily one of them,a highly enjoyable clash of the stars. So there's 3 standouts,forgive the silly bits and enjoy.
