Give evil hell!

In the final days of World War II, the Nazis attempt to use black magic to aid their dying cause. The Allies raid the camp where an occult ceremony is taking place, but not before a demon, Hellboy, has already been conjured. Joining the Allied forces, Hellboy eventually grows to adulthood under the supervision of his adopted 'father' Trevor Bruttenholm, serving the cause of good rather than evil.

When the powerful and evil Nazi figure who unleashed Hellboy suddenly reappears in modern times, he discovers that Hellboy is now working as a paranormal investigator at a secret U.S. government agency dedicated to protecting humanity from the forces of darkness. Now, Hellboy must fight to solve the riddle of his own existence and prevent the destruction of mankind...

Dark Horse Comics' popular cult superhero Hellboy makes the leap from the comic book pages to the big screen with Ron Perlman, the only actor considered charismatic enough to convey the blood-red demon anti-hero, cutting a cigar-chomping dash in the title role as Hellboy, assisted by prosthetics from 6-time Oscar winning makeup artist Rick Baker.

Near Flawless Full HD Transfer + this is the Director's Cut!

Guillermo del Toro's monster mash gets the full 1080p transfer with DolbyTrueHD audio, and it looks and sounds absolutely stunning.

I have the original standard two disc DVD which doesn't even compare when upscaled to 1080p, although the three disc Director's Cut DVD has better encoding and picture quality.
This Blu-ray totally blows them out of the water, with excellent detail and contrast, and deep inky blacks. Details such as the fissures on Hellboy's filed down horns for instance, demonstrate how Blu-ray can reveal greater detail than ever before.

All this, plus this is indeed the Director's Cut of the movie with a few added scenes that add more depth to the characters, and of course in glorious full HD!

 A Whole Lot Of Fun.

The movie itself is a really great adaptation of the cult comic book. Ron Perlman is perfectly cast of the cigar chomping title character and director Guillermo del Toro manages to keep the pace high while also delivering a fairly decent storyline.

The Blu-Ray transfer is great, the movie has never looked better and sounds amazing. This is definately the Blu-Ray DVD to use when showing off your new toy to your friends.

Although this is the longer extended version of the movie and includes some nice extras (director's commentary, deleted scenes) it doesn't have the extras which were included on the 3-disc Director's Cut DVD available.

We are faced with a choice, more extras on the 3-disc Director Cut available on normal DVD or the improved picture and sound available on Blu-Ray with slightly less extras. Personally I went for Blu-Ray and I'm not disappointed.

Great SFX, I loved it !!

I just could not wait to see this film on blu-ray and was not let down. the picture and sound are what hi-def is all about!.

Ron Perlman and Selma Blair still the show , just can't wait until Hellboy 2.

The disc has lotts of extras well worth buying this again on the blu-ray disc and a good price from sony.
