An edge-of-your-seat action adventure story, 'Vertical Limit' is the high-adrenaline tale of young climber Peter Garrett (Chris O'Donnell - Batman & Robin), who must launch a treacherous and extraordinary rescue effort up K2, the world's second highest peak.

Confronting both his own limitations and the awesome power of nature's uncontrollable elements, Peter risks his life to save his sister (Robin Tunney - End Of Days), and her summit team (Bill Paxton - Twister and Nicholas Lea - TV's The X Files) in a race against time.
  • Commentary by Director Martin Campbell and Producer Lloyd Phillips

I borrowed this blue ray, the film starts off with a lot of potential,as the film goes on it gets more unbelievalbe.
Picture quality is great and sound is excellent, but the film is so dissapointing it will make you cry.
Buy at your own peril

ACE film only a clown would think otherwise

This film is ace, don't watch it expecting realism because lets face it no nutter would walk around with nitroglycerine on their back let alone try and climb K2 the world's most dangerous mountain with it.

That said a very entertaining film, it's funny, it gets you on the edge of your seat, hell there is even fit totty to oogle at.

Now in HD too, what more could you want. If you want realism watch K2 (1991) with Michael Biehn in the starring role. If you want something fast paced and as daft as cliffhanger watch this.

Simple :)

Someone left the cake out in the rain....probably O'Donnell!

I think the best way to describe this joint is a one scene wonder! The opening scene is incredibly tense and tops that of Cliffhanger if you ask me. But sadly, unlike Cliffhanger, this baby goes downhill faster than a burt reynolds facelift!!

The highlight of the opening scene is Chris O'Donnell, who is a superb actor! He has undeniable range and he displays this in style here as he unleashes an opera solo, hanging off the mountain, to the classic 'Macarthur Park' (Richard Harris, 1968) He has a voice like Mozart, even in the most tense situation, and this is the highlight of the film, and likely the most comical moment ever commited to film! It even beats classics such as Messner's jack in a box from Running Scared, Munroe's intro in Congo, and Milo/ Stallone's monolgue exchange in Rocky Balboa!!

Unfortunetly for O'Donnell, the mood soon changes and if he'd spent more time checking the safety equipment instead of showing off singing, the horror show that follows might have been avoided!!
Although to be fair, having to deal with his dads singing and amateurs at 12 o'clock, i'm not suprised he loses his grapes at the top of the mountain!

This film certainly didnt generate any Oscar buzz but theres enough juice in the opening to make it worth seeing, and to keep me amused as i wait patiently for 'The Poker Club'.

 An Epic Masterpiece
