Cops or criminals; when you're facing a loaded gun what's the difference?

A big-budget Hollywood star power remake of the Hong Kong classic crime thriller Infernal Affairs.

Two men operate on different sides of the law; one a mole with the Boston State Police department, the other within the Irish mafia. When bloodshed breaks out on the streets, each mole is despatched to discover the other's identity in a race against time...

Marty finally collected the Best Director statuette at the 2007 Oscars after decades of bad luck. Not only that but the Departed also picked up awards for Best Editing, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best film!

This was one movie that didn't appeal to me when I first watched the trailer... I don't know why I felt like that as I am a huge Martin Scorsese fan.
But I finally watched it and thought... 'Woah...'
This is a very strong, powerful movie and always keeps you on the edge when you're watching it. I loved the performances from Jack Nicholson, Matt Damon and Leonardo DiCaprio etc.
The extras aren't fantastic but this is still worth watching in HD.

Very disapointed by this Blu Ray, the movie is excellent , quality of picture and sound is great but it is not worth more than a good DVD edition... no extra menu, not extra feature and no extra languages or subtitles, only english... pity looking at the storage available on a blu ray and looking at the same movie, in blu ray , different edition with french and spanish dubbing included

Sorry to ruin it for most of you but this film is another hollywood remake. Therefore isn't the original masterpiece that all that hollywood hype made many believe.
The original "infernal affairs" starred tony leung was released in 2002 and was followed by a prequel "infernal affairs 2" and a sequel "infernal affairs 3" both released in 2003.
Having seen all 3 films first, i was interested to see how scorsese would handle it... And to be honest i was disappointed.
I was hoping that the film would take the storyline to a new level, similar to reservoir dogs and city on fire. However this wasn't the case.
The acting wasn't great, and some critical scenes were slightly rushed.
My advice to anyone who has seen this film is to watch the infernal affairs trilogy, and if you haven't,,, watch both as the departed is worth watching.
