Set against the backdrop of civil war and chaos in 1990s Sierra Leone, Blood Diamond is the story of Danny Archer (Leonardo DiCaprio) - a mercenary - and Solomon Vandy (Djimon Hounsou) - a Mende fisherman. Both men are African, but their histories as different as any can be, until their fates become joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond that can transform their lives. While in prison for smuggling, Archer learns that Solomon - who was taken from his family and forced to work in the diamond fields - has found and hidden the extraordinary rough stone.

With the help of Maddy Bowen (Jennifer Connelly), an American journalist whose idealism is tempered by a deepening connection with Archer, the two men embark on a trek through rebel territory, a journey that could save Solomon's family and give Archer the second chance he thought he would never have.

Top 100 PC Reviewer

Absolutely fantastic film. Bought this on blu-ray a few weeks ago and I was absolutely blown away by the quality; certainly one of the best to date.

As a film, it is brilliant. It really brings to light some of the issues with the diamond industry and will leave a lasting impact on your way of seeing the world.

Definitely get this film, you wont be disappointed!

 Very very good movie

This movie shows more, it lets you see how young children are driven into soldiers life. How such a war can disrupt families and a country, and what makes the war go on. And why, because rich people in the West want to have daimonds. And the people who dig them out of the ground don't benefit of the riches of their country.
You just have to see it, it's a great movie with strong acters, really worth to watch.

I bought this film on Blu Ray, as a result of my best friend's reccommendation. I watched it the day I received it and I just want to say its an excellent film! I had read good reviews of it but, yeah It's very very good! Looks good on Blu Ray, with quite alot of action. The story is really good and actually realistic to what happens in Africa I guess. Buy this film it's really good. :P

Excellent film - not the best Blu ray out there.

Firstly anyone telling you this film is superb including the acting and story line - believe them. Not usually my kind of film but this was recommended to me and I am not disappointed. Film itself for me it absolutely 5 stars, however I would have to agree with the previous review that the picture quality all in all is not up to standard. Some of the scenes are beautiful but over the 140 mins not much better than DVD quality. Well worth buying all the same.

 SUPERB VIEWING!!
