From Mel Gibson, director of the Passion Of The Christ and the Academy Award-winning Braveheart (Best Director, Best Picture, 1995) comes the thrilling historical epic Apocalypto. This intense, nonstop action-adventure transports you to an ancient Central American civilization, for an experience unlike anything you've ever known. In the twilight of the mysterious Mayan culture, young Jaguar Paw is captured and taken to the great Mayan City, where he faces a harrowing end. Driven by the power of his love for his wife and son, he makes an adrenaline-soaked, heart-racing escape to rescue them and ultimately save his way of life. Filled with unrelenting action and stunning cinematography, Apcalypto is an enthralling and unforgettable film experience.

It took me a while to get around to seeing this film, and after seeing some good reviews about it I decided to 'take a chance' and get it on Blu-Ray. All I can say is WOW! If you are having friends round and you want to show them what HD is all about, this is the one. The scenes in the forest are just like looking out your window. The detail, the colour, its just so like being there. The story is great too, from the opening thrill of the hunt, the humour of the tribesman, the quiet before the storm of what is about to happen to them really involves you in their village life. And, don't worry too much about the subtitles, you hardly notice them. Great film, with an HD picture to die for!
You will not be disappointed!

This film completely blew me away. The detail, the colour, the depth, all truly amazing. Not usually a fan of subtitled films but the picture is so good and the story is such an epic that the subtitles don't detract from it in any way. Add it to your collection - NOW!!
