Top Gun (Blu-ray)

This is certainly a worthwhile addition to any Blu-Ray collection, the improved audio/video clarity definately gives the film (and Kelly McGillis) a new lease of life. What used to be 109mins of cheesy 80's easy entertainment, is now, well, immersive cheesy 80's easy entertainment.

Here's how the stats rack up.
Picture: 1080p, Audio: Dolby TrueHD 5.1 & DTS 6.1. If it's the same as the US version, you'll be blown away by the crystal clear - like you're there - picture and blistering sound. During the dogfights you'll think the jets are coming over your shoulder as they criss cross your screen and speakers. Make sure the neighbours are out and get that amp cranked up. As for extras, again, if it's like the US version you'll get them in abundance. You should get (in SD), Director and Navy experts commentary, Making of..., Inside the real Top Gun, a gallery with 4 music videos, TV spots, Behind-The-Scenes Featurette, Survival Training Featurette and Tom Cruise Interviews. There are lIterally hours of extras, far more than the film is long...Enjoy.

I was dubious about buying this on Blu Ray, after all how can a 24 year old film transfer to this modern format?
Well, I went with the positive reviews on Play and boy am I pleased!
The transfer to Blu Ray really is excellent! I have the standard DVD as many of us probably do with it being such an iconic film, and playing them back to back its even more apparant what a difference Blu Ray makes. The opening scenes are a great way to showcase a big surround sound system and large screen telly!
Go on you know you want it ! !

This was one of the first Blu-ray movies I bought and I have to say I was absolutely blown away by the experience. Having already owned this film on dvd I couldn't believe the difference in quality in the Blu-ray version. I was able to pick out details I could never have done before. You feel as though you are actually there.

Watching this on a 52" LCD with 1000W surround sound is a joy. The picture and sound quality are breathtaking.

Trust me, the quality of this Blu-ray dvd is the one all others should be compared to. I have bought about a dozen Blu-ray films since and seen numerous ones in stores and none of them beat this.

I'd thoroughly recommend buying this even if you own it on normal dvd.

Top Gun on Blu-Ray?....Wow, tremendous!

I recently just built myself a new home theatre setup and Top Gun was the 1st movie l played on my new blu-ray player.

The sound and vision is absolutely incredible. Its like watching the movie for the 1st time. I highly recommend anyone to buy this classic movie now released on viewing pleasure of Blu-Ray.

The extras are superb as well.

Five Star quality.
