Decorated Civil War veteran Nathan Algren (Cruise) is sent to Japan to train and lead the Emperor's troops in modern Western, gunpowder intensive, warfare to eliminate the country's remaining rebelling samurai.

Captured and imprisoned by the outlawed warriors, Algren is slowly swayed by their strict adherence to the honourable code of Bushido and, when the Emperor's forces mass once again, Algren offers to join his former captors in an effort to preserve their way of life...

I would recommend this wonderful film as a must see blue ray product , the picture quality is excellent the sound also is very good and clear . Just what all film fans have been waiting for . I have 700 dvd's in my collection and have only decided to replace those, special titles, i feel are worth of such an outlay and this is well worth it , my blue ray collection now stands at 25 and counting .

this film is probably the best action film ever brought out, with the epic battle scenes and the unbelievable realism of the battles. this film unlike most action films has a truly epic story to back it up and this i believe makes it the best ever action film and now its on blu ray. anyone who is anyone with a blu ray or ps3 will buy this because i have watched it about 7 times and i could watch it again and again, a great film with great playability.

I just had to get a movie on Blu-ray to try out my new player, this seemd the best deal to try it out, having the movie already on DVD, what was i too expect.
Well, WOW!, what an amazing difference, quality all round both visual and audio were fantastic, I have always loved this movie but its now in my top five of all time.
A great movie to intraduce me to Blu-ray, well worth the purchase...

the only thing to say about it being blue ray is the fact that the quality of the picture is so much better as it can be displayed as 1080p, and the sound is alot clearer too.

as for the film, i personally think it's one of the best films i have ever seen, the story line really drags you in and it also can bring a tear to your eye. i wont explain about the actual story line as it's something you need to watch yourself.

this is a must have.

A great film and a fantastic transfer to blu ray

This is a great film, although very long it has plenty of action and the story keeos you watching all the time. I had owned this on dvd and decided to buy it on bly ray, was not disapointed at all. I would recommend this film. It looks great on blu ray and is a good improvement over the dvd.
