This is an amazing film from the director of the exorcist, it shows he still has some real talent after all these years and especially with choosing his cast, every actor in this movie was amazing!! McConaughey was brilliant (I never thought I would say that) the best thing he has ever starred in and Juno Temple is amazing, such young talent and the supporting cast was great too with Gina Gershon and Thomas haden church both great, great story with powerful and memorable performances and a cocktail of nudity and strong bloody violence, a true modern classic that must be seen, gem of a film!! Shame there are not many features only interviews with cast but the bluray picture is great.

 Very entertaining

This film is very well made and boasts superb performances from all cast and is very well directed by William Freidkin. Beware however that some of the nudity is a little bit graphic and the sexual content is both uncomfortable and funny. Overall a decent film.

 Not great

I was disappointed with this. Although the acting was solid the story was bland and the direction was tired. The ending was dreadful. One thing is certain-I will never look at a chicken leg the same way again! Watch but don't expect too much.

'chris' has got himself into a spot of bother, he takes up a suggestion that has been made to him.
the idea to raise money............hire a killer to kill his mother to collect the insurance...............enter ''bent'' cop 'joe' who kills for an agreed fee, wanting the money up front.
problem is neither he or his father has the money, so 'joe' suggests that 'chris's' sister 'dotty' is put up as a retainer...............not ideal for 'chris' however he is desperate.
trouble with the plan is that perhaps 'chris' should have smelt a double -cross given where the original source of the idea came from.....?
not the fastest moving film in truth, however allmost certainly worth viewing.

 Well worth watching

Going into this film being a fan of Matthew McConaughey, but at the same time knowing this would be a departure from some of his more recent roles, I knew I'd be in for a good viewing experience. I never imagined I'd be taken on such a thrill ride from start to finish, but not in the sense of lots of action. The subject matter in itself is very dark from the outset with Killer Joe being what the name implies, a killer, but a hired one at that who has a very stringent mindset on how everything must be done, no exceptions. These dynamics provide a full psychological thrill ride that really questions what is actually right and wrong in such a dark setting.

The cast play each of their roles tremendously so much so that (as I already implied) I didn't really know how to feel about each come the end of the film. There are emotions I know I 'should' be feeling towards them, but at the same I can't feel that way, and in some cases feel the complete opposite, because of the journeys that they go on. The way their lives have to adapt to the unique situations they are put make for a very thought provoking experience and certainly makes you realise how people can get into dire situations.

Don't expect to be laughing out loud throughout, if anything expect to feel the need to look away on more than one occasion - that's how powerful the viewing experience was for me.

Definitely worth watching in my opinion!
