when found out this iconic film from the 80s was coming to blueray I thought to myself , a must buy as one of my fav films of all time , then was bit disappointed when saw the new design cover which said Patrick Swayze on it .. would rather had the original dvd cover which had Charlie sheen on too , but wasn't grumbling as at last it was out blueray , a few grt xtras and interviews from a few years ago , but what lets it down is the pic is very grainy in places at start I thought it was snowing till I realised it was grainy effect , don't get me wrong this film is a classic , not all pretty boys and girls like the poor remake , but why oh why couldn't they cleaned up the picture a bit more , still over the moon to get but just disappointed that picture is off lower quality .. ok old film but if they can do an amazing job with old films like star wars why not with this , still just glad been released at last

As a teenager in 1984 upon the release of this movie the thought of the Russians invading seemed a very real threat. Of course in the end both sides realised the errors of their ways and the walls were torn down. Looking back on this film the synical part of me wants to complain of all the patriotic flag waving. But it's hard to complain about a film that I watched hundreds of times on video. The film has a great retro feel and seeing young Charlie Sheen and Patrick Swayze with his band of Wolverines hide out in the hills and then take the war back to the communist invaders is impossible to dislike, Especially when C.Thomas. Howell screams the war cry "Wolverines!" The bleak mountain settings is great, the action is swift and sharp and mostly done in montage sequences, this is brilliantly corney and enjoyable stuff to this day. If you have watched the much delayed remake with a shrug, then I suggest you see this original as although not technically as slick as the remake it's a much better story and better characters.
Red dawn to this day stands the test of time as a great retro guilty pleasure. "WOLVERINES!"
See If You LIke........
Red Dawn 2012
The Expendables 1 and 2.
Rambo Collection.
War Games.
By Dawns Early Light.

  'AMERICA STAND ALONE'

the world is in turmoil as a global war rages........until now 'america' isn't involved.............a small town in coloradoi is invaded by a communist force who proceed to occupy the territory.
a small group of youngsters led by 'jed' have escaped the occupation.
seeing and learning of the zero tolerance regime imposed by the occupying force, the group set about guerilla tatics against the invaders.
the group become the hunted as well as being the attackers.
will the resistance spread, or will it become a lost cause ?
far fetched, certainly, however it is entertaining and certainly worth a spin if you've not seen it before.
( picture quality not the best, sadly )
