"There's an evil new force in the universe. A monster planet that devours everything in its path.....and it's heading for the small planet of Cybertron, where a unique race of transforming robots continue to fight a civil war, a war between good and evil that has raged for millions of years. "
The evil Decepticon Transformers, led by the maniacal Megatron have sworn to crush their enemies the Autobots. To this end, they have relentlessly pursued them across the galaxy from planet Cybertron to planet Earth and back again. But the heroic Autobot Transformers and their courageous leader Optimus Prime, are not easily defeated..."
The year is 2005, and the Decepticons have retaken Cybertron from Optimus Prime and his Autobot warriors. Whilst the Autobots prepare to launch an offensive to re-take their home world, the Decepticons - led by the maniacal Megatron - stage a surprise attack and decimate the Autobots' Earth base, resulting in massive casualties on both sides. However, a new enemy is on the horizon, an enemy the likes of which, no Transformer has ever seen before. That menace is Unicron, a gigantic robot with the ability to transform into a small moon; capable of devouring whole planets to fuel his desire for unlimited power. With Unicron fast-approaching, and the heroic Autobots in peril, one must rise from within the ranks and use the Autobot Matrix of Leadership - the only power that can end Unicron's terrifying reign of destruction.
Featuring a stellar cast of voice actors, this was the penultimate cinematic performance for the great, Orson Welles (it was the last job he worked on, however) and the last performance from Scatman Crothers (The Shining).

Menu's - sharp slick etc
Movie - in parts looks nice but in the huge battlefield scene (chapter 3) that i skipped to so i could witness the blu ray wonders, lacking extremely lacking, seems they improved slightly in parts like closeups but all the action looks untouched, a real shame and a let down
If you have it on dvd then stick to that your not missing much.
Brilliant film as ive said but a shame
original made better

I've seen Transformers The Movie so many times, I know pretty much every part of it intimately. I thought the Ultimate version on VDD couldn't be topped...I was mistaken.
In terms of picture quality, the Blu-ray version delivers tremendously. Lines are sharp, colours are full unlike many of the other remastered versions where the colours looked a bit faded, and the sound quality is great.
Having owned every version of this movie ever released, I am utterly pleased with this latest release and really don't think it could be topped. My only niggle with it is it that it lacks all the special features of the Ultimate DVD release.
Also, please don't base reviews on your own mistakes thinking this is the live action 2007 movie, you only get 1 star for not using your common sense.
