Everyone knows the film, the theme tune is embedded into the minds of us all. Very low budget which will no doubt put off the younger guys and send them running for the remake but this is a brilliant film. Slow and tense with a soundtrack that sounds like Goblin if they lost a few hands, very minimalist but brilliantly done. I also find it really funny to watch a guy walking round killing people whilst wearing a William Shatner mask, halloween was never the same when i found that out!
The blu-ray looks great, although colours could be more accurate. The sound is okay but could be improved, and for some reason the default audio track is just 640 kbps. It does have lossless audio aswell but you have to change it at the start so be sure you do! Very good for the price.
I don't know why I put off getting this for so long. I had it on video, then DVD, and probably thought it would always look a bit ropey on blu ray. How wrong I was! This is right up there with the top of the catalogue releases. The picture is something else. There are so many details I had never noticed before!
All in all, a fantastic purchase, especially for the few quid it is on Play! Very highly recommended.
I was amazed how good this looks on Blu-ray. Picture and sound are fantastic, not at all what you'd expect from a film this old.
The film may not have aged that well, but the quality has to be seen to be believed. Well worth buying at this price for your collection.
Be the best fiver you spend this year.
Oh, and in case you haven't ever seen the film in any format, it's definately worth watching.
