Pan's Labyrinth is the story of a young girl that travels with her mother and adoptive father to a rural area up North in Spain, 1944 - after Franco's victory. The girl lives in an imaginary world of her own creation and faces the real world with much chagrin. Post-war Fascist repression is at its height in rural Spain and the girl must come to terms with that through a fable of her own.

Pan's Labyrinth is an adult fairytale, come on how often do you hear that! It combines the imagination of a young girl with the harsh reality of life throughout WW2. I love Del Toro's work, with the exception of Hellboy, and this is the best thing he's done yet, its fantastic. This film got loads of good reviews and well deserved them.
The film has stunning cinematography and is beautifully shot throughout. All the performances in the film are great too. The film is just so good and i would recommend it to anyone who loves watching movies.

If you love films, then quite simply you have to see this movie. Guillermo del Toro delivers an outstanding production that will move the hardest heart. Subtitled, so beware, but if you can get past that then the film is a wonderful fantasy. The Bluray transfer is outstanding, and one of the best discs on the market for picture quality. That coupled together with the masterpiece of film should ensure that any film enthusiast has this on their shelf. 5 stars from me. One of the best movies I have ever had the pleasure of watching.
