Their mission.... to save the world!Fifty years from now, the sun is dying, and mankind is dying with it. Our last hope: a spaceship and a crew of eight men and women. They carry a device which will breathe new life into the star. But deep into their voyage, out of radio contact with Earth, their mission is starting to unravel. There is an accident, a fatal mistake, and a distress beacon from a spaceship that disappeared seven years earlier. Soon the crew is fighting not only for their lives, but their sanity.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer
I was completely hooked from beginning to end.The Story, the Premise, the Acting and Direction were fantastic..The Dilemmas presented were intriguing and the film involved the viewer all the way through.Chris Evans was Brilliant as was Cillian Murphy. The rest of the cast played their parts as required. The only downside was the slightly muddled ending.Definitely one of the better Sci Fi films from the last Decade

If you are expecting a wam bam sci fi fest with laser guns blazzing all over the place - look elsewhere, this is a rather different animal. In line with a recent trend in Sci-Fi films (e.g. Moon & District 19) this is a more thought provoking Sci Fi film that uses special effects to enhance a story rather than being the sole reason for watching. And Danny Boyle does it superbly well here. Yes it is a little derivative (echoes of Event Horizon, The Core, 2001 etc) but it is well acted, not completely far fetched and relatively tense all the way through and as previous reviewers have said it makes you think and certainly will stand up to several viewings.
And that is before you consider the blu ray transfer. Having seen a variety of discs over the past 12 months this is easily in the top 3 - a superbly sharp transfer up with the best combined with a top notch digital soundtrack will make a half decent home cinema system shine.

The soundtrack is superb - John Murphy and Underworld do a great job. The music isnt available in the shops but is on I-tunes (but only as a full album purchase......dont get me started!)
In summary in my opinion this is Danny Boyle's masterpiece - much better than slumdog. If you are in to thought provoking films -it is well worth searching out one of the many £9.99 deals out there at the mo!
