How could anyone compare Blade Runner with starwars???? this film gets better and better every viewing! I was worried the Blu-ray version would show up the special effects but it still looks great even after all these years. Simply stunning!
Oh dear

This is a film which for some reason I'd never got round to seeing even though I am over 30. When I saw it had been released on blu-ray I thought great, what a good opportunity to see it in the best possible way (on my 50" full HD plasma). Well, I have to say this is probably the most boring and depressing film I have ever seen. The sets are stunning no doubt, and the effects hold up even in high definition but the actual film is simply not an enjoyable way to spend 2 hours. This simply does not even compare to the Star Wars trilogy (original), Aliens or even Star Trek films. Totally overrated.
Cinematic brilliance.

Some movies don't stand the test of time but this had me in love all over again. The music is stunning and it really brings the story to life. Subsequently bought the 3 CD of vangalis for my birthday.. (check it out under CD)
Harrison Ford at his all time best, I would by this again.
get the 5 disc blu ray on playusa for the same price

I bought the 5 disc blu ray version on playusa for the same price, that's exactly the same final cut blu ray + 4 other discs, the 3 other versions of the theatrical version all in blu ray and 2 other standard definition discs with 9 hours of extras, and brilliant documentaries. I was worried about buying a region 1 blu ray , but this works on a uk playstation 3... you'd be mad to buy the single disc version if you have a ps3...I can confirm 100% that you won't be sorry you went for the region 1 version, enjoy!!
Awesome movie, awesome transfer

I've no idea what Bryster is talking about saying the transfer of this movie isn't very good - it's amazing. Blade Runner has never looked so good - out of all the older films I own on Hi-Def I'd go as far as stating this sets the standard. The final cut really isn't that different from the director's cut - I purchased the 5 disc limited "Deckard Briefcase" version and it's well worth the extra, one of the finest collectibles I have the pleasure to own. A HD version is a must if you are a fan of the movie, although for the completist I'd recommend the 5-Disc version - the Blur Ray is region free, so get it imported.
A bit disappointed

I don't know what to say, I'm stunned. This was supposed to be the HD disc to better anything out there.
Let me explain...The film is as amazing at it ever was with a soundtrack that now finally does the film justice(although it is Dolby TruHD as opposed to PCM as advertised and on the packaging). No the big let down is the picture quality. This film was supposed to have been scanned at 5x HD...thats 9600x5400p. It should be absolutely mind boggling but its below par as compared to other HD movies I own. I watched it on a 55" Sony Bravia Pro Series Screen using a PS3 which is still one of the best blu ray players around. There were large amounts of grain present and a lack of detail in numerous shots. Its got nothing to do with age. I recently imported the special edition blu ray of 2001 Space Oddessey, now that was absolutely stunning. It ranks up there with Pirates of the Caribbean, Mission Impossible III and Superman Returns as the top presentation titles. Blade Runner...Well all i can hope is there's something wrong with my disc and they've put the wrong master on the uk discs

This is a great movie, all the cuts of it are. Its just a shame that this only has two cuts of the film. While the US version has FIVE versions, the DVD box set we have here with all the versions is avaliable on Blu Ray in the U.S AND is region free so will play on any Blu Ray player. Buy the american version and marvel in the genius of this film and ALL its various incarnations.
Original is best!

For me simply one of the best films of all time! I just bought the 5disc special edition on blu-ray and its awesome quality,Usually dark scenes on blu-ray playback can be grainy but this is not grainy at all.I prefere the original 1982 version not the directors cut and in my opinion they ruined the film when they took out some of the best parts of the film! directors cut is poor in comparison!
Blade Runner Reborn!!

After several years of waiting and waiting for Blade Runner to be cleaned and remastered the wait has finally ended.
Blade Runner the Final Cut is the version of he film that Ridley Scott had originally intended and I have to say in my opinion I agree. Harrison Fords narration is still ommited, the unicorn scene slghtly extended and other scenes slightly tweeked that I do not want to spoil if you have never seen the film before.
The picture is excellent considering this film was made in 1982 and handles the dark mood of the film very well. The sound too is very good and to hear Vangelis's soundtrack (which too I recommend) in all its glory is a joy.
A top film that is always a joy to watch and will never die. Ridley Scott's sci-fi classic is a must not only for fans of the genre, but for fans of film in general. Love it!!!!!!
