Ridley Scott directs this fast moving action adventure about the disastrous mission in Somalia on October 3, 1993 where nearly 100 U.S. Army Rangers, commanded by Capt. Mike Steele, were dropped by helicopter deep into the capital city of Mogadishu to capture two top lieutenants of a Somali warlord which leads to a large and chaotic firefight between the Rangers and hundreds of Somali gunmen which destroys two U.S. Black Hawk helicopters in Mogadishu.

as far as action movies go you dont get much better than this..
the picture always looked good on dvd and is a defo an improvement
on bluray..
the 5.1 mix is terrific and all the fire fights and choppers sound great..
theirs plenty of subs arabic czech dutch english french greek polish etc
the extras are just commentarys which is good but some deleted scenes or behind the scenes would of bin nice..
and finally the steelbook..its one of the better made ones and the artwork looks fantastic..
also came in at a good price..so would defo recommend this to bluray and steelbook collectors..hope this helps..

Great Item shame the price ruined it.

The film itself is great, seen it at the cinema owned it on DVD, Blu-ray and when I found this had to get it. The steelbook itself I have no qualms with and looks incredible. The reason why I knocked a star off is that I ordered this on monday at full price and within 24 hours the price was slashed in half, dont get me wrong I understand prices can fluctuate but I was disgusted that it was brought down so much in such a short space of time. I felt ripped off. May be the last thing I buy from here if stunts like this are pulled again....
In short great film in a great case but the pricing leaves alot to be desired for.

this movie is one of the best ever made simple. now for the BUT
this UltraViolet software is the biggest con going you MUST be on-line to watch the movie you just paid for if your not tuff you can't watch it and this software is now being used on DVD's and Blu-ray's
so from now on i will not be buying any new movies with this UltraViolet software and from what i've seen on-line i wont be the only one so be careful on what you buy from now on

This is a brilliant modern war movie, by master director Ridley Scott. This has to be the best war movie since Saving private Ryan. What's shocking is the events are true ! This is a re-enactment of the disasterouse mission held in Mogadishu in October 1993. The outcome of this 18 hour battle was broadcast to the west with pictures of dead U.S. Marines being dragged around the dusty streets. The film never chooses sides in it account. but lays the facts and lets the viewer draw there own conclusion. The film has a powerful message, but this is one hell of a war film, as once things to spiral out of control for the marines, the audiance is submitted to a very real battle. Bullets shred, heads and bodies explode. hardly ever has war been so real on film.
The Blue Ray transfer picture quality is outstanding as you can see every grain of sand, beed of sweat and drop of blood, the audio is fantastic as the bullets Wizz and RPG, s explode. The only disappointment is the bonus features that although very good are from the two disc DVD edition, we could have hoped that the bonus features from the superb re-released three disc DVD edition could have crossed over to Blur ray.
Black hawk Down is a hard hitting reminder of the war torn world we live in, but seeing now that the worlds #1 most wanted man is now fish food, it's a perfect time to re-watch this brilliant hard hitting modern war movie. Now after a decade since it's release it's also good to see then fresh faced actors now becoming massive movie stars, look out for Tom Hardy!
This is a essential War movie, and also a very important movie. It's also a Bloody Classic and a damn fine steel case to boot!
