LAPD police officers Brian Taylor and Mike Zavala are bonded by friendship and a crusade to clean up the violent streets of South Central, Los Angeles. Their mission is to serve and protect, their objective is to survive until the end of watch, that last moment in an officer's patrol when he's finally off duty. But when a routine traffic enquiry results in them seizing a large cache of weapons, Brian and Mike are marked for death by a notorious drugs cartel. Thrown into a world of mayhem and carnage, both officers are forced to risk their lives in the name of the law.

Directed by David Ayer (Training Day, Street Kings) and starring Jake Gyllenhaal (Source Code) and Michael Peña (Gangster Squad), END OF WATCH is a gritty and visceral cop thriller that puts the viewer at the centre of the action.

This is one of the most realistically shot cop movies ever. The casting of Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Pena is brilliant, the banter as they patrol the streets of South Central is realistic and very funny. The chemstry between the two is so good that you feel the danger for them as the go about their duty because you genually like the guys. The film is shot in such a manner, part found footage, part documentary style and to some extent epic city scapes that it totally imerses you in their job. Directed by the writer of the excellent Training Day and the very underrrated Dark Blue the film knows it's subject matter well. It's not about story, it's about situations getting out of control and as the film moves along the sense of dread is very evident. The overall impression of the film is that these cops are working in a war zone and living everyday as if it's your last is a way of life. This is compelling stuff and I was gripped from start to finish.
One of the best films of last year.

This is the big budget movie version of cops! well sort of in that tradition of camera style footage from the perspective of the actors making their own documentary of day to day events, this movie has been directed and edited in such a great way that makes it really upbeat and entertaining to watch with a fast pace and plenty of action, the cast is brilliant and they make very believable cops and really give us a realistic angle of day to day police activity, its fun its violent its emotional its brilliant and a must see, the Blu-ray is good quality and there are plenty of features!

Very good film! Really enjoyed it. Story got deeper and more harrowing as it flicked along. It's shot in a documentary view of two Police officers working in one of the most gang riddled and violent areas of L.A. I won't go into to much and let you see the film for your self. Well worthy in your Blu-ray or DVD collection as I don't let any old film in mine. Enjoy!

 Possibly one of the best?!?!

Was a bit sceptical about buying this due to not seeing many reviews, and the fact that it looks more like a documentary. But as soon as the intro was done I realised I'd bought a class film, a must buy for your blu ray collection.
