4.5 He's in town with a few hours to kill! MovieAddict | 13/02/2013 | See all MovieAddict's reviews (1336) Taken (2008)One panic stricken phone call is broken by Liam Neeson's calm reasoning."I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills, Skills I have aquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you."And so was the Liam Neeseon movie that everyone thought was going direct to DVD became an unexpected hit. Of course on paper this is paper hin stuff, but the execusion is tight fast exciting and gripping. The bonus of the Harder cut up's the violence to a very satisfying Euro thriller that made Liam Neeson an action movie star over night.****1/2Taken 2 (2012)Let there be no doubt Liam Neson is a god among middle aged men. It's a shame that this un-needed follow-up is a bit lazy in comparison to the original. Neeson again is fantastic and hard as nails and the scene by navigation by grenades is brilliantly preposterous. It's a sad truth that there are very few ways to be kidnapped, and diminishing sets in fast. Content to throw a few stunt doubles around in some sub- Bourne action scenes Director Olivier Megaton brings as much streamlines panache and excitement he did with Transporter 3 and Colombiana, in other words very little. The harder cut is far better than the watered down cert 12 cinema cut, and although the budget is much bigger than the first film, it carries little of what made the first such a classic guilty pleasure.***See if you like.....Colombiana.Transporter Trilogy.Quantum of Solace. The Bourne Legacy.
