The best horror movie after years!

I have seen a lot of horror films last years and all of them were dissapointing. This was rarely perfect. This goes straight to the top of my best ones.
It's that king of horror movie that you will see just a little blood but after that you will afraid to walk in even in your house with lights off.The Baguul (Demon) figure is the worst nightmare EVER SEEN and the story about his medieval past was very creepy.
Picture and sound was at it's perfect and the music was so frightening that you want it to reduce volume.

Also same perfect horror movie was "Insidious 1" which had PERFECT frightening music.

Just see trailers !

this film is one roller coaster of a horror film, the story is clever, and keeps you guessing to the end, thats if you can stay in your seat long enought from keep jumping from it. best horror for many years. a must see movie. make sure you got plenty of vanish for your underwear after the film.

  Solid, if unremarkable chiller.

True crime writer Ellison (Ethan Hawke) decides to revive his floundering career by moving his loved ones into that suburban house where a family were slaughtered. he gets more horror than he bargained for when his investigation of the unsolved crime turns up a batch of mysterious and brutal home movies in the attic. This thriller borrows a lot from insidious but with better results as if the same producers have learn't from the mistakes. The movies frequent shocks and nice dark comedy help deliver the chills, as does another excellent soundtrack by Christopher Young (Elm Street 2, Drag Me to hell and Hellraiser) Yes I was slightly disappointed by the lack of real scares but in whole it's a solid chiller.

  Pretty Good!

It is usually a rule of mine not to buy films without watching it first, I made the mistake of buying Insidious without watching it first and ended up pretty disappointed but i'm glad I took the risk with this! It loses one star because of the awful cringeworthy acting from the wife but apart from that it was very enjoyable, very good story that draws you in and makes you think, and of course Ethan Hawke is on form as usual, and the tension stays throughout the film unlike insidious where it just gets stupid.
Overall a worthy effort!

'ellison' and his family have a new home.
he is looking for inspiration to write a new book.
early on he finds a box of home-movies and projector in the loft.
the films show graphic details of a series of killings in seperate locations including the house they now call home, he trys to find a link between them.
with things that go bump in the night and images designed to startle along with much in the way of tention.....
the film will almost certainly hold your attention.............if yer' still breathing that is.......................better than many films of this type i've seen in recent times.

From the very start this movie establishes a raw and bleak tone. It certainly seems that imagery is a vital element of this tour de force! With disjointed images that are truly chilling to the 'found footage' elements, there are more than a few sights to chill the bones!

I won't bore you with the director, makers bit (as other reviewers have done a great job with that) but you can certainly feel the influences of two unique film styles working in perfect unison! In this instance the terror machine has become far more than the sum of it's creepy parts!

With a wonderful cast of talented people, you can really get a sense of family dynamics at play. This lends itself so well to the horrific plot points to come. Another fresh and unique premise that certainly had me doing research afterwards! I feel I should also point out that the editor of this film really knows his stuff. Not an inch was wasted and everything felt relevant and important, there was no room for pointless scenes that so commonly act as filler for films of this kind.

A new wave of horror that is as relentless as it's antagonist! Well worth a watch!
