Gaius Claudius Glaber is dead. Many months have passed since his defeat, and the rebel army, led by Spartacus and his generals Crixus, Gannicus and Agron, continue to amass victories over Rome. With the rebel numbers swelling to thousands of freed slaves, Spartacus is more determined than ever to bring down the entire Roman Republic. Following Ashur's death, Naevia and Crixus fight as one. Together, the rebels engage in one bloody skirmish after another and prepare for the inevitable: a full out war with Rome.

The Roman Senate turns to Marcus Crassus, a wealthy, strategic politician, for aid. He respects his opponent and refuses to make the same mistakes Glaber and his predecessors have. With a young and fiercely competitive Julius Caesar as an ally, Crassus is determined to crush Spartacus and his rebellion.

The epic conclusion of a legendary journey, Spartacus: War of the Damned will unleash a battle unlike anything ever seen before.

if your reading this review i can only assume that you are familiar with seasons 1/2/3 so i wont go into to much detail..what i will say is that this has been one of if not the best series i have ever had the pleasure to watch and season 4 is up there with the rest..in many ways im very happy that i own all of these on bluray and on the other hand i am sad that its all over...i even began to shed tears on the finale episode thats how absorbing this series has been..
all in all this is acting and story telling at the highest level...
p.s. dont forget to watch the end credits after the last episode...
I AM SPARTACUS...................................................................

This by far has to be one of the greatest tv shows ever made.. the first seasons set a very high standard and they continue to hold it and even better it in this last collection with bigger sets and storys you wont want it to end but like all good things they must...
and hats off to who ever said to do the end credits the way they did on the last ep "i am spartacus" rip andy....

 This is the end.

Spartacus has been some of the most entertaining TV I have ever seen. It's so over the top you just relish every guilty moment. I even got my wife loving the show after her first impressions were proven wrong ( but I suspect it's down to Ganacus ) It's been leading to this as Spartacus and his rebellion take on the full force of the Roman Empire, but if you know the show the plot twist and turns as the Roman senate turns toward Marcus Crassus for aide. This Roman general is not like the rest as he respects Spartacus and refuses to make the same mistakes that Glaber and his predecessors did. Add to this we have a young Julius Caesar and both are detimed to crush Spartacus's rebellion. The story also shows cracks in the relationship of Crixus and Spartacus as they prepare a full on war with Rome. It's not a spoiler to say it doesn't end well for the rebellion, but even in the final episode the show keeps on tracks and never gives in to sympathy. After Blood and Sand having Liam McIntyre take over from Andy Whitfield for Vengeance, the change of actor was at first a little jarring has McIntyre has a smaller frame, but now he makes the role his own with very satisfactory results. To have a show that has kept quality and a fan base growing is a credit to the writing and as the end credits roll keep watching until the end for a brilliant and fittingly respectful pay off to the original Spartacus Andy Whitfield who sadly died.
This is thrilling TV at it's best and has never been anything less than must see viewing that will be sadly missed.
