In a Dublin suburb during that magical summer between leaving school and starting college, Richard seems to have it all: popularity, respect, loving family, a hot new girlfriend. So what does he do? Naturally, he goes and blows it. Charting the slow unravelling of the boy-who-has-it-all, Abrahamson is well served by his young lead Reynor who gives a commanding performance in the lead. But the film is so matter-of-fact and so objectively aloof, it's quite hard to care about what Richard actually did.
