Like the other reviewer I was excited at the prospect of Top gun in 3D, but really wish I'd saved my money. The sound is excellent but the picture quality is awful. Not only did I find it grainy, but I didn't think the 3D transfer worked very well. I only managed 15 minutes of the film as well, but in my case because the 3D was so distorted that I was getting eye strain and a serious risk of a headache!

Save your money and stick with the original.

We all know how good the film is, so I'll keep the review purely about the 3D. Even though my expectations weren't overly high, as it's an old film, I was still excited about seeing this in 3D.
Unfortunately, it was a bit of a let down from the start. I haven't seen the Blu Ray version so not sure what the quality of that is like, but this is just purely terrible. As another reviewer says, it looks like a VHS version. There are two or three plane scenes where they fly across the sun where the 3D is at it's best and the picture is crisp and vibrant. But other than that, there aren't many other good things about this version. It didn't take my breath away..

I wouldn't recommend this version to anyone.

So I got all excited about Top Gun 3D mid-air dog fights on 3D Blue-ray.Well I can see why the 3D disc is so cheap !!!! I havent watched the film start to finish yet but the first 15 minutes is so grainy it looks like a VHS copy!! Dont get me wrong its a good 3D conversion and the flight scenes have some great depth but why bother if its SO grainy that the standard DVD looks better?
