I was suprised to find out that it was a musical all the way through, rather than the odd song here and there like I originally thought.
Though to my suprise I rather did enjoy it. The performance of the cast, the style, the colour and the humour were brilliant.
It isn't the best film out there but I did enjoy it, 4/5.
The Blu-Ray quality was marvelous, the sound was clear and the picture was phenomenal. I'm glad that Blu-Ray is making alot of headway in modern media formats. Soon we'll be throwing away our humble DVD players for a more blue future.
I also liked the Play.com exclusive booklet that came with it, the little sketches the behind the scene pictures and designs, very nice.
A Bleedin' Masterpiece!

Having just watched this on blu-ray, it certainly has the WOW factor! Brilliant performances from the whole cast, but Johnny Depp & Helena Bonham Carter aka: Mrs. Burton as the pie making Mrs. Lovett really excel in their roles. If you love Tim Burton's dark, gothic imagination...you'll love this. Great music & wonderful Uncompressed soundtrack. The PQ is terriffic, with wonderful clarity & sharpness & deep inky blacks. Without giving anything away, the Final Act & the ending is pure Opera. Highly Recommended!!!
Great Movie

Another great movie from Tim Burton, and it looks amazing in full high definition!! What is more, the Play.com Steelbook case is really cool, and the booklet you get exclusively from buying this with Play is an interesting read. Well worth the money in my book!! Sweeney's waiting folks....go buy this Blu-Ray!!
A must see!

Despite other comments, this is a fantastic film and I would say a must see. But I would be quite glad if it stayed a cult film as it deserves to be appreciated by fans of Depp and Burton who are truely Brilliant!

I was forced by the misses to see this in the cinema and i was horrified to find myself actually enjoying not just alittle but alot! Tim Burton and Johnny Depp never miss with anything they do and this is not an exception. Ill be buying this on release day not for the girlfriend but for myself, Well worth the extra £3 for the Blue Ray.

Sweeney Todd is a brilliant peice of film that joins horror and musical in an amazing way Johnny Depp plays Sweeney Todd and plays an amazing part the blood and gore make this film what it is and has the usual tim burton feel to it as Todd goes on a killing spree to get revenge for his family only to find he enjoys it a bit to much
Try this review, its in the middle, like the film...

If you are a fan of horror you will be entertained but not thrilled...
If you are a fan of musicals your feet will be twitching, but there will be no tapping...
And if you aren't a fan of either you may start napping...
A spat of gore here, a bum-note there, this film tries hard on both fronts but never, quite, gets, there...
Very different but ultimately overrated, none the less stil a potent and inspiring film, with a cracking last 20 minutes that finally meets the potential momentum of the majority of the movie!
Terrible at the cinema. Possibly better on BLU-RAY

My girlfriend made me go and see this movie at the cinema. It was not only the worst film I've seen this year but It's in the top worst films I've ever seen. Firstly it's a musical and none of them can sing (except Sacha Baron Cohen). And secondly it was to dark to see what was going on (I felt like I had tunnel vision) maybes it will be better on BLU-RAY but I doubt it. If your a huge Johnny Depp fan and love Tim Burton films you'll probably like it anyway, but it doesn't deserve 3 stars nevermind 5!
My girlfriend doesn't get to pick films anymore.

This if a fine superb masterpiece from mastermind Tim Burton as he brings the hit musical to the big screen.Starring Johnny Depp as Benjamin Barker who becomes Sweeney Todd after he was sent away on a false charge by the evil Judge Turpin played by the great Alan Rickman.Once back in London and he learns the truth of what happened to his wife Lucy and his daughter Johanna is now turpin's ward he vows revenge against the man who sent him away the judge.Along the way Mrs lovett played by Tim burton's real life wife Helena Bonham Carter who has the worst pies in London opens a barber shop above her pie shop and vows to have his revenge. The setting is brilliant and the setting is very dark and well set.The chemistry between Depp and Bonham Carter is there you can feel it there scenes together are really powerful and the singing performances together are even better and well performed Deep voice is so beautiful and Bonham Carter has a real nice beautiful voice aswell.Sacha Boren Cohen also shows off his singing skills and what my opinion steals the show in his performance he is in.He plays Signor Alolfo Pirelli Sweeney todd rival barber the dirty italian he is cocky and when he tries to black mail him about his past Sweeney then seals the day.Dont let this film put you off cause it's a musical the music score is ace and very addictive and a cd you should have in your collection. In my opinion Sweeney Todd is the film of 2008 great music fabolous Old london settings and a cast of world class actors see this film you wont be disapointed.
A Master piece
