I echo other reviews here. I really didn;t want to watch this, but got forced to see it at the cinema. I loved it so much I bought the Bluray, and this is just pure 'magic'. There are all sorts of references to previous Disney films, and when the leap is made from animation to real world acting, it is wonderful. The picture quality on bluray is once again top drawer (as you would expect from Disney). The performances are excellent, and there are plenty of musical numbers for the kids. Special mention has to go to the lead actress Amy Adams, who pulls off the role as Giselle with ease. She is wonderful in the role, as is the witch played by Susan Sarandon. Excellent bluray and excellent film

a fairy-tale romance comes to planet-earth, a jealous 'groom's'
mother, who just so happens to be a 'witch' sends her 'son's' ( prince ) intended to modern day 'new york'
this transfer's animation into reality ?
plenty of silly humour, enough to at least keep the 'kid's' amused.
i drifted away from my policy to buy 'action/or probable great blu-ray'
transfer's because at the time the difference in price between this and 'dvd' wasn't worth worrying about.
if this trend continues i'll of course buy 'blu-ray' every-time, picture and sound quality is of course superior.

Enchanted is the perfect mix of an old-school Disney fairy tale and a modern live-action New York romance.

The story begins completely animated (refreshingly not CG just simple classic Disney 2D) where we meet fairytale Princess Giselle whose attempts to marry her Prince are spoiled by an evil Queen who transports Giselle out of the animated kingdom and into real-life modern-day New York.

From that point on all the characters are played by real actors as Giselle (Amy Adams) adjusts to real-life while falling in love with a handsome lawyer (Patrick Dempsey).

James Marsden provides some great comedy moments as the Prince searching for Giselle while Susan Sarandon has a ball playing the villain of the piece. There's also a very funny squirrel and Timothy Spall's henchmen to keep things funny.

Enchanted has a very sweet feel to it and is a great mix of romance, comedy and songs. A real family movie.

Top 100 DVD Reviewer

Giselle is a princess dreaming of her happy ever after as she sings her way to true love in an enchanted forest in animated style(literally)....but Narissa the evil queen has other ideas when she banishes Giselle to the real world of Manhattan in modern day New York to be lost amidst a completely different world.....The scene is set then for a modern day twist for a perfect real life fairytale in a cross between Snow White and Pretty Woman....what's your dream? Amy Adams plays an innocent Princess Giselle who is reluctantly helped at first by a divorce lawyer in the form of Patrick Dempsey (Greys Anatomy) and followed into the real world by an equally dashing Prince Edward played by James Marsden and an evil queen Narissa with Susan Sarandon's help....What transpires is a totally sensational chemistry based Disney with lots of humour song and dance with a touch of panto theme(watch out for the song and dance sequence in New York's Central Park as it is magic)....Will Giselle find her Prince Charming?....Simplicity is the key to a very entertaining colourful Disney with the characters all combining to make it one of the top Disneys to be released in recent years..... as to the Blu-ray I have never seen such a fantastic colourful spectacle as Giselles song "How will I know" in Central Park...the picture quality is absolutely pin sharp with vivid bold colours and vibrant contrast...This can also be said of the Grand Ball Dance sequence at the end of the film...Indeed there is a whole host of demo hd material in this film such as the entrance of Narissa and Prince Charming via the man-hole in the middle of Times square New York....The sound too is top notch with explosive entrances, lively musical scores by Alan Menken, an absolutely must have blu-ray with very enjoyable family entertainment, comes Highly recommended...

I saw this film in the cinema and instantly loved it. The tongue in cheek comedy works perfectly as well as an incredible cast that you literally can't stop loving. I'm glad I got the blu ray of this, it didn't disappoint at all! I found the windowbox look of the first animation strange at first, but it really makes the transformation feel even more magical when it comes to the real world. Highly recommend for any disney fans whom like their movies to look that little bit more special.

Customer rating: 5 out of 5 stars The magic of classic Disney animations brought to life

Rolandeschain | 25/03/2008 | See all Rolandeschain's reviews (14) »

I have always been a fan of Disney classics like Snow White, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, The Lion King, etc, etc. so I was a little wary of a live-action/animation crossover.

My fears were soon put to rest though because this grown man and his 3 year old son were quickly drawn into this fantastic tale of a young princess cast out of her own world and into the real one by the wicked step-mother of the prince she was due to marry (gritty stuff!).

The humour is a good mix between childish and mature to give audiences of all ages a giggle and the acting is over the top enough to ensure that you know you're still watching a Disney movie. Amy Adams play the role of Giselle the princess down to a tee and it's enjoyable to watch her character trying to learn the ways of the real world.

It's a great family movie and well worth picking up on Blu-ray for the added visual treat.
