Sylvester Stallone is back as Rambo!
Twenty years after the last film in the series, John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) has retreated to northern Thailand, where he's running a longboat on the Salween River. On the nearby Thai-Burma (Myanmar) border, the world's longest-running civil war, the Burmese-Karen conflict, rages into its 60th year. But Rambo, who lives a solitary, simple life in the mountains and jungles fishing and catching poisonous snakes to sell, has long given up fighting, even as medics, mercenaries, rebels and peace workers pass by on their way to the war-torn region. That all changes when a group of human rights missionaries search out the "American river guide" John Rambo.
When Sarah (Julie Benz) and Michael Bennett (Paul Schulze) approach him, they explain that since last year's trek to the refugee camps, the Burmese military has laid landmines along the road, making it too dangerous for overland travel. They ask Rambo to guide them up the Salween and drop them off, so they can deliver medical supplies and food to the Karen tribe. After initially refusing to cross into Burma, Rambo takes them and drops them off close to one of the Karen villages.
Less than two weeks later, he receives a visit from a pastor tellng him the aid workers did not return and the embassies have not helped locate them. The pastor has mortgaged his home and raised money from his congregation to hire mercenaries to free the missionaries, who are being held captive by the Burmese army. Although the United States military trained him to be a lethal super soldier in Vietnam, decades later Rambo's reluctance for violence and conflict are palpable, his scars faded, yet visible. However, the lone warrior knows what he must do...

First the quality comments , good sound , great picture , i bought the dvd when it first came out instead of the blue-ray copy , just incase i didn't like the film , i thought it may have been ok , but because of the time factor from the earlier three films it may not have fitted in . How wrong i was , yes first blood was the best story , but because of restrictions at the time and to obtain a wider viewing public , john rambo was watered down a wee bit . He still became a national hero , but in this latest offering we actualy see the real rough and tough solider and no punchers pulled , when asked u.s. Marines confirmed that rambo was the first major film to show what damage a 35mm gun could create . Overall yes a little o.t.t. But if this is to be the last film , what a way to go . A great action film , a great transfer to blue-ray , very much recommended , well done sly.
The LEGEND returns

I was always gonna like this movie on the account of being a massive Stallone and Rambo fan.
The film is well made, tight 90 min running time and a good story, relevant to what is actually going on in Burma.
Be warned the film is very Gory and Violent in parts. Much more than the previous 3 in the series.
Performance wise, well Stallone is RAMBO, even though he is a little subdued and beaten down with time and age this time.
The last scene was brilliant - bring on Number 5.
If you are already a RAMBO fan then it is a 4/5. And if you are new in class then probably a 3/5.
P.S - check out the extras bit with the little doc-u about the Burma situation. Interesting
This is the best action film ever made!!!! Before this film i was not much of a fan of stallone, but i was blown away by how amazing this movie really is!! Great directing, great acting, great story and dialogue, and most of all the violence is insane!!!!! Half the movie is blood and gore and very realistic action.. This is a must have in your collection
