Sylvester Stallone is back as Rambo!
Twenty years after the last film in the series, John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) has retreated to northern Thailand, where he's running a longboat on the Salween River. On the nearby Thai-Burma (Myanmar) border, the world's longest-running civil war, the Burmese-Karen conflict, rages into its 60th year. But Rambo, who lives a solitary, simple life in the mountains and jungles fishing and catching poisonous snakes to sell, has long given up fighting, even as medics, mercenaries, rebels and peace workers pass by on their way to the war-torn region. That all changes when a group of human rights missionaries search out the "American river guide" John Rambo.
When Sarah (Julie Benz) and Michael Bennett (Paul Schulze) approach him, they explain that since last year's trek to the refugee camps, the Burmese military has laid landmines along the road, making it too dangerous for overland travel. They ask Rambo to guide them up the Salween and drop them off, so they can deliver medical supplies and food to the Karen tribe. After initially refusing to cross into Burma, Rambo takes them and drops them off close to one of the Karen villages.
Less than two weeks later, he receives a visit from a pastor tellng him the aid workers did not return and the embassies have not helped locate them. The pastor has mortgaged his home and raised money from his congregation to hire mercenaries to free the missionaries, who are being held captive by the Burmese army. Although the United States military trained him to be a lethal super soldier in Vietnam, decades later Rambo's reluctance for violence and conflict are palpable, his scars faded, yet visible. However, the lone warrior knows what he must do...

Firstly the film this is the best outing for Rambo since First Blood the action is thick and fast and the death scenes are very very graphic in this film.
The death scenes are shocking but i felt neccesary as this really does get the point of this film across to the viewer that this really is going on in the world right now.
Stallone is great reprising his role of John Rambo the acting is not oscar winning but thats not what you watch Rambo films for.The action really is first rate and i would highly recommend this film to any Stallone,Rambo or action fan.
Lastly the Blu-Ray transfer the picture is clear, crisp and sharp the sound is excellent as well the picture was great all the way through the film and never went pixly like some films do so all round top marks on this great film.
Cracking Viewing

Firstly lets not pretend this is a cinematic masterpiece or potential Oscar material, it a piece of pure entertainment, albeit a horrific and gory one.
My review taking my first comments is directed at the performance of the Blu Ray in picture and sound which from an immersion point of view is outstanding if this film is your cup of tea I would highly recommend it's not as good as the first but a million light years better than No2 or 3
great BLOODY movie

You know, Sly gets a lot of stick and yes he's made some bad movies , but he's also given us loads of greats such as Rocky and Rambo. This film is Moodier, Darker, Bloodier and more Violent then previous Rambo's but its really good.
I dont want to appear to do this film an injustice by making out I get my kicks out of the violence, I dont and maybe in this case, it might be argued that the violence might be a little strong especially given the opening scenes which look like real footage. However , that aside, you are brought up to speed with John Rambo and his new life and you are taken on a breath taking action packed ride in this film. What with this movie and the latest Rocky, Sly has shown that despite his age, he can still make a boody good movie. Nice one
