First blood and Rambo are the strongest of the set. Not saying that the other two are bad because they are definitely not.

THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST 'ACTION-PACKED' BOX-SETS ON THE MARKET.
it started back in '82 with what i still believe to be the best of the series 'first blood' in which 'john rambo' retutns from the 'vietnam' war to find he's not welcome in fact after a few run-ins with the local sheriff he becomes a hunted-man. ( you just know he'll have the last word )
in 'first blood 2' he's asked to go back to the jungle he knows so well in 'vietnam' to rescue 'g.i's' held captive.
all hell breaks loose.
'rambo '3' ' 'john' decides against a mission to 'afghanistan' ...however when his friend and mentor 'col sam trautman' is captured, 'john' just has to go in to help his friend.
the film has an explosive finale.
then 20 years later 'sly' decides he'll play the role again, in this one he joins a group of mercinary's who are sent into war-torn 'burma' to search and rescue a group of missionary's 'rambo' himself had taken down the river and dropped off close to the village in the jungle they had asked to go.
well, the mercinary's wanted to leave 'john' on his boat waiting for their return.....you just know that ain't gonna happen. ( sly' 20 years on still has it )
i actually rated the fourth as my second favourite, all four are 'action-packed' and well worth owning on this format ( must admit i actually purchased this from 'play' on one of their 'deals of the day' last autumn i believe, i paid a lot less than todays price, maybe it'll pop up again at a similar price ? )
as i indicated, the first and fourth were my favourites, just felt the middle two to be more than a little 'o.t.t' but never-the-less exciting and 'action-packed' in fact all four give an 'adreniline' rush.,,,enjoy.

One of the best movie series' ever

First Blood - A classic - Even though not as good as the novel - It was highly dramatic and excellent reflection on a warrior. Great performance from Sylvester Stallone, Brian Dennehe and Richard Crenna. It is also memorable for some great action sequences and stunts - particularly a motorbike chase sequence and a scene where Stallone jumps off a cliff-side and falling thousands of feet down, using an ingenious yet painful method to break his fall...

Rambo - First Blood Part 2 - Probably the worst of the series in terms of story and acting (until number 4 came along that is) - yet probably one of the most influential movies of the 80s and highly enjoyable. It was the blue print of many action movies to follow. It has a memorable bad guy played by Steven Berkoff. This one is probably the most memorable and most loved of the sequels.

Rambo 3 - This is spectacular - probably the largest scale Rambo sequel of the series - spectacular helicopter and tank battles, huge battle scenes, beautiful desert scenery and some great performances by Sylvester Stallone, Richard Crenna and Marc De Jong who plays a great Russian villain. This one is memorable for some humour and for being the best Rambo sequel out of the lot. Its also one of the most violent movies ever - with the highest body count of all the Rambo movies.

Rambo - The fourth in the series is probably the most visualy bloody, unfortunately its also the weakest in terms of plot - Its nowhere near as thrilling as the 1st movie and not nearly as entertaining as the other sequels - yet it does have a gripping sense of danger and is extremely watchable due to the excellent performances of the cast members. The beginning of a new trilogy as the ending reveals and a great action movie (probably the best action movie of 2008 actually)...

This box-set is amazing - First Blood and Rambo 3 are beautiful to behold on a 42 inch screen - The movies have a great soundtrack and are well worth repeated viewing.

here is how I rate the movies:

First Blood = 5

Rambo: First Blood Part 2 = 4 Stars

Rambo 3 = 5 stars

Rambo = 3.5 stars

As a collection it beats any other collection out there (Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Evil Dead, Indiana Jones etc) - the Rambo series is surprisingly coherent and consistent and most importantly it is highly entertaining, remaining true to audience expectations and surpassing them.

A must buy collection.

  The Story of a Legend

Rambo 1.
The Story Begins.
The best one in terms Acting and actual Impact and Story.
Easily one of Stallone's BEST performances along with Rocky and Copland.

Rambo 2
One of the Best Action films of All Time.
The Best Action Spectacular from them all - Perfect running Time.
This is Stallone at his peak - perfect role, perfect performance for a big budget action movie.

Rambo 3
Under - Rated
The Flop film. Yes it is a bit bloated, but nowhere near as bad as it's made out to be.
Well worth a watch. A Guilty Pleasure

Rambo 4
The Comeback.
A lot more toned down than the previous 2 Rambo films
Stallone is in more of a reflective mood in the first half and then full on kick ass mode in the 2nd half.
Very violent tho.

The boxset is great to have on bluray :) but i was disappointed! The usa blu ray discs are packed with extras!! Deleted scenes! Docs! Trailers! Rambo 1 gets the alternative ending deleted scene with the us disc! Where rambo dies! Etc. The uk discs! Apart from rambo 4! Are bare :( i guess theres plans for this set to be re-released with the proper extras added! The back of the box for this uk set says fully loaded! Afraid not! Its slighty loaded :)

Im not going to bother reviewing the original trilogy as everyone has seen them by now and has their own opinions.

As Bly Ray releases the original trilogy looks and sounds better now than it ever has before. While the picture isn't mindblowing I would put the picture quality between 3.5 and 4 out of 5 for the original trilogy and are definately worth the upgrade from DVD.

As for Rambo 4 this movie looks and sounds absolutely fantastic, if you are a Rambo fan this is the pinnicle of the series as violent a movie as you are ever likely to see its a fitting end to the series.

In watching the 4 movies now, First Blood should be seen as a prequel and 2-4 as a trilogy, what to I mean? in First Blood John Rambo goes out of his way to not kill anyone even to the point of wanting to kill himself and is a character study. In 2 & 3 they become action movies and he kills dozens but for a reason and in 4 he just kills everyone.
