I owned the US BLU RAY release of this title, as soon as I realised it was not the extended cut I sold it and bought the german HD DVD extended steelbook edition, which comes with most of the features from the r1 ultimate dvd. This isnt cheap, round about £30.00; the picture quality was more or less the same as its BLU RAY counterpart, not excellent but definately of hi def standard. If this BLU RAY is indeed the full cut of the movie; at £12.99, special features or none; this is an absolute bargain!

This film is one of my favourites. Its a shame the Blu Ray release doesnt do it justice. The picture is good for a film of its age and it is nice that this is the directors cut. But, what happened to all the extras!? The R1 DVD ultimate release had 2 extra scenes that could be played seamlessly with the film, not to mention all the featurettes and behind the scenes. I guess if I want to look at the extra's I will have to dig out the R1 DVD! So much could have been done with this such as using branching tecnology to have the option of watching theatrical, director and ultimate cuts.
A 5 star film with a 1 star Blu Ray release.

When I found out this was coming to bluray which was just after I bought my bluray player and 32' 1080p I had to get it, I don't know why some have said that it is bad quality because I read some reviews for and said it was pretty good, and I really liked it as well, it's better than the other version I have of it anyway, I really good film that my friends like as well, if you think the pic quality is bad, that's up to you, but I thought it was really good in some parts, and I'm glad I got it for my bluray collection
