Watched this version last night and i was very upset at the transfer the picture is grainy in many parts and the sound is awful some parts we had to turn the volume up to 40 just to hear the dialogue. The Film deserves to be perfect im sure they just released this for a quick cash in with the Steel Tin Edition just being released now.
I will be returning to my Ultimate DVD version after this upsetting version my advice is get the steel tin if your Blu-[Ray player can play it mine couldnt.
I love this film and couldn't wait to add it to my Blu Ray collection, but after starting to watch it I was appalled at the picture quality, to the extent that I eventually turned it off in disgust. Garbage like this makes a mockery of the term High Definition and the investment people put in to updating their TV, etc. If you have the DVD don't waste your money! I shall try the Skynet Edition Blu Ray, it looks like a better option, with good reviews and lots of extras.
Someone lent me this disc some months ago, to show me what my blu-ray player was capable of (before I invested any money in more films). I couldn't even finish the film - the image quality was a downgrade from DVD releases (including this film on DVD).
At the time I figured that perhaps old films cannot be improved upon with blu-ray, and shrugged it off. Then I recently bought the Skynet Edition from play, and found an amazingly crisp, clear version of this film. There is no excuse for the poor quality on show here - especially not for a film of this importance!
Heed the reviews, and spend the extra for the Skynet Edition. Its worth paying more for a true blu-ray release. Avoid THIS edition, which will cause offence to your eyes.
I like this movie, and really enjoy it. As other said, picture doesn't seem that crisp. Most of all though.... there is NO option for subtitles unless you are french or dutch, whick mostly sucks. English subtitles are good if it's hard to hear what they say or if friends don't have that good an english. Also, there is no extra materials whatsoever... no behind the scenes.... how difficult is it to do this from the old dvd-release?
Please, set som standards above slightly below minimum when you release material on BR's. It's what the space is there for, and especially when a lot of the work has been done before it's just lazy.
Still a cool movie... sigh, just annoying it's a poor quality release.
