  Good film, poor transfer

| | See all dan3play's reviews (16)

Don't get me wrong, this is a top notch movie but this "Blu" release is a let down. The lack of extras is seriously frustrating and the picture transfer is way behind in comparison to other Bluray's.
The DVD version upscaled to 1080p will give this a serious run for its money - sad really considering its meant to be HD. That aside this is an Arnie classic with a high body count, lots of action and decent plot.

  My review

I was expecting a lot from the BR release of this great film. The picture quality was slightly better than the DVD version, but some parts are grainy and I think it needed a little bit of spit and polish to make it stand out. If you already own it on DVD then I would think twice about getting it on BR, there are other films out there on BR that have been transfered so much better than this.

Good film ... mediocre offering ... poor value for money

| | See all DrewStrat's reviews (3)

The packaging misrepresents the screen ratio as 2.35:1 it isn't. It is 1.78:1

On my 50" plasma, the picture is grainy, but the colours are vibrant and the image is appreciably sharper that the upscaled "Special Edition" DVD

The sound offers no particular improvement.

There are no extras whatsoever. These could have been ported at no extra cost in standard definition.

A good film, but this offering does not warrant the cost, especially if you already have the DVD; it represents poor value for money.

This is my favourite Schwarzenneger film of all. Absolutely brilliant, engaging storyline that wil leave you guessing to the end. Fantastic picture and sound quality in Blu ray. A must for your collections.
