In a future where freedom is outlawed outlaws will become heroes.

A future where the world is at peace but emotions are gone; war is a distant memory, and so is music, art and poetry. Here, emotion is illegal and feeling is a crime punishable by death. Clerick John Preston (Christian Bale) is the government agent responsible for destroying those who resist the rules, but forced to kill one of his own agents, he begins to question everything. Now the man who has been trained to enforce the strict laws, suddenly becomes the only person capable of overthrowing it.

 Cropped picture

| | See all Locklear's reviews (1)

This movie was originally 2.35:1, but this blu-ray has been cropped on the sides to make a fullscreen 1.78:1 feature. Really disappointing. Makes the movie look "zoomed" as a lot of the edge details have been cut away. The box even says 2.35:1 which is wrong.

 Wrong aspect ratio on box

Great film and the picture is pretty good for blu-ray, sound as stated is only 5.1 dolby digital, aspect ratio on my previous dvd was 2.35:1 with the black bars on top and bottom, the blu-ray states on the box that it is 2.35:1 but is infact 1.85:1 with no bars I suspect this was filmed in super 35mm as there's more picture information on top and bottom but less on the sides.

 great film, ok transfer

I gave this 4 stars due to how good the film is however the transfer leaves much to be desired as it only looks slightly better than the dvd version. Disappointing!
If you havent got this on dvd already, wait till this comes down in price before getting it but defiantly get it at some point.

 finally it's here.

Having seen the blu-ray version i thought the fast moving scenes were blurry on a 60hz 1080p tv, just watched it on a 100hz 1080p, awesome, a must have blu-ray film if you like action sci-fi like matrix, riddick etc. people have in the past commented on why it was not as hyped as matrix trilogy was, who knows.Especially when you consider Matrix was so cgi intensive and Equilibrium uses little or no cgi characters. Get this one 5 stars for film and quality.
