The evil organization SPECTRE has hatched a plan to steal a decoder that will access Russian state secrets and irrevocably unbalance the world order. It is up to James Bond to seize the device first, but he must confront enemies that include Red Grant and the ruthless Rosa Klebb, a former KGB agent with poison-tipped shoes.

Even as Bond romances a stunning Soviet defector, he realizes he is being lured into a deadly trap, and he will need all of his courage, abilities and cutting-edge technology to triumph over the forces that seek to destroy him.

Brilliant, even after all these years

I must come clean, I had not seen this movie until last week and it must be said; Miles better than some of the newer Bond movies. You cannot beat the classics!

As for Blu-ray, after watching it, I seriously cannot return to normal DVD's, despite this movies age, it transferred extremely well! A tribute to what Blu-ray visually is capable of. Again, the visual quality wipes the floor with a fair number of new (non-Bond) releases.

If you do not have blu-ray, get it. If you do not have this movie, get it.

Verdict:
As usual, this second film is as well restored as the first one of the collection: an outstanding picture and sound !
We are able to see every details of Istanbul, a such beautiful city.
Although the wire to detonate the helicopter was digitally removed at the end, we can see more clearly the dummy aboard just before the detonation.
We also learn all the shot without actually seeing the face of Pedro Armendariz are preformed by a stunt-double, the hair colour are not quite the same.

Dubbing:
And of course, what would be a James Bond Girl without her being dubbed, despite Daniela Bianchi working hard on her English skill and therefore being able to speak English, she was as well dubbed by this time Barbara Jefford.
The French and German dialogues are both original dubbing made in the 60s and of very good quality.

Another fantastic restoration, a feast for our eyes !

Excellent transfer for one of the best of the series

This and Goldfinger look absolutely stunning - you'll be amazed how much difference in quality there is between this and the DVD version.

 Could not believe my eyes!!!

My Son bought me this for christmas & just got round to watching this blu-ray & I couldnt belive how much better the picture & sound was on a movie made in 1963 the colours were so rich & deep & the opening credits looked amazing, didnt think the picture could get any better than the ultimate dvd editions as they put many Blu-rays to shame but this is a major inprovment. All I can say is if you like this film get this blu-ray nice price too.

 No. 2's a treat

The second Bond film really finds the series establishing its credentials with its pre-titles sequence, theme song, some gadgetry courtesy of Q and John Barry's score. That it also has a lucid plot with a sexy hero, a sexier heroine and some spellbinding villains makes it all the more memorable. 007 travels to Istanbul to relieve the Soviet authorities of a valuable decoding device, unaware that he's running into an elaborate scheme hatched by SPECTRE. This one features some writhing gypsy women, a helicopter attack and the best special effects sequence of all - two tough blokes slugging it out in a cramped train compartment.

A gorgeous, gorgeous Blu-ray transfer. Considering this film is nearly 50 years old, it looks fantastic.
