Based on a shocking true story the Rise of the Footsoldier follows the inexorable rise of Carlton Leach from one of the most feared generals of the football terraces to becoming a member of a notorious gang of criminals who rampaged their way through London and Essex in the late eighties and early nineties.

Top 100  Reviewer Top 100 DVD Reviewer

In terms of the movie, i really enjoyed it all the way through.

Intense performances throughout, very well directed and very brutal, so in a way, true to the real events that unfolded.

This film is not for the fient hearted and has bad language throughout, which is no problem, after all this is an 18 movie and the front cover gives you an idea it is not going to be pretty.

The picutre quality was excellent, really crisp and clear. defo worth the upgrade from dvd to blu ray. sound is ok, maybe give that 4/5.

Extras good too, interview from Carlton Leach is great

Overall i recommend, this is now in my collection

hope this review helps

p.s yeah the wig on Tommy Tucker was a true mullit!

As soon as I had finished watching this movie, I immediately restarted it, I was hooked, I too googled the Rettendon Murders after watching several times, the story drags you in & you actually feel the characters emotion!

Best British Gangster Movie (true story)

This is one of the best british gangsters films i have seen, the fact that its a true story based apon a book written by calton leach, who is the main charater in the film makes it that much better i i think thats what someother reviews are forgetting, i have seen some people blasting the storyline. You cant dismiss a move for bad story when it based on true events.

This film will have you hooked from the begining, and will also have you googleing essex boys to find the fact about these people best cause its so mind capturing. This movie is all about the life of british gangsters that we dont really hear about until someone is murdered, watch it , enjoy it, i did.

One thing i would say it bad about this film is the wig they use for tony tuckers hair, lol you will see what i mean, but this movies is still a classic in the making.
