Poltergeist (Blu-ray)

Hard to believe that Tobe Hooper (director of Texas Chainsaw Masacre) could craft such a great and commercial piece of classic cinema, but he really did hit the spot in every way. The script is great, the actors are a perfect fit , the FX although a little dated are still amazing and the music is horror classic. I wish that there was more cinema like this today. HD will just add to this perfect package..

Grown up watching this movie and the transfer to blu ray is great quality. A classic haunted house movie restored.

I bought this when it finally appeared on DVD as it is one of my favorite films so buying the Blu-ray was a must. i am sure you know the film and like me would want to know if it is worth buying this again on blu-ray. For once the transfer is a lot better for a film of this age and the sound is great a little more care could have been taken in places where you can clearly see some scratches, however this is minimal and it proves that good transfer can be archived with a nearly 30 year old film (see Robin hood prince of thieves where the transfer is awful). I do hope film company's start to sit up and take a lot more care on the issue of old films on blu-ray when effectively you are buying the film again.The rating is for the transfer,

If ever a movie was crying out for a Blu-Ray release this is it. Quite simply one of the best and most under-rated horror movies of all time! Considering it was made in 1982, even now the visual effects are stunning. And a remarkable performance from the sadly late child star Heather O'Rourke. A must have in any film buffs collection!

I saw Poltergeist the first time on norwegian national television in 1983, and was truly amased. Not just of the special effects, but the whole movie. The characters, the atmosphere, and of course the little girl. I taped the film from the TV and watched it over and over again, I think at least two or three times each week for a period. It has good but simple horror-effects, and not just horror special effects like lots of the newer horrorfilms, but also simpler effects, like whats inside the closet, under the bed and so on.

One thing thats also good in this film, is the music. I just love the musicscore, today the music in a film counts for nearly 70% of my total experience.

So, everyone, who hasnt seen this film, see it. You will love the characters, and the atmosphere, and the music. I really look forward to the blue ray-release, since I havent bought it on dvd. :)
