 The Beginning of the End...

The title of the opening episode to Season 4, "The Beginning of the End" sums up entirely what this season is about.

In my opinion, Season 4 is a bridging season between Season 3, and Season 5. I know right, it obviously is being that it's in between, but what I mean, is that it is there to connect the dots. At the end of Season 3, we see in a Flash Forward Jack wanting to go back to the Island. So, we as an audience needed to understand why.

This season shows us why, and then right at the end, picks up where we were left, with Jack in need of returning.

It truly is the beginning of the end here, and the doors are opened for the penultimate season.

This is a jaw-droppingly good Blu-ray. The crispness of the picture and the richness of the colours is absolutely staggering. On the disc, I particularly like the way questions pop up at the end of each disc to make you think about what's going to happen. The SeasonPlay mode is a great way to drop in and drop out of the series, and the ability to watch all the flash-forwards in chronological order is a real treat for us Lost geeks.

As for the show itself; season 3 drew many detractors as it was unnecessarily long. An arrangement between the studio and the writers meant they finally drew a line in the sand and decided on the endpoint (at the end of season 6) which allowed this season to become tight and focused. New characters are introduced deftly and quickly become part of the fabric of the show without feeling like grating graft-ons.

A landmark show and this is the ultimate way to watch it.

Great Price, great quality, buy it!

Lost series 4 is second only to the first series of Lost in my opinion. This is what high definition was made for, the island looks fantastic and the action scenes are amazing. The extras are also well worth a watch. Also, your looking at £60 if your planning on buying this on the highstreet.

 A Solid Package

Lost burst forth onto our screens with a cracking first season, a hugely disappointing second season and a third that began to find its form again a third of the way through and now we have season 4 with Lost right back to its best.

Cut short because of the writers strike giving a rushed feel to the end of the series its as watchable as ever. We now know who gets off the Island which gives the show a whole new dimension. Add in major character deaths, time travel, islands that vanish into thin air, staged plane crashes, Jacob and a whole lot more. I cant wait for season 5.

If you have not watched Lost before steer clear as although it will be entertaining viewing you wont have a clue whats going on.

The Blu Ray is a fine transfer the Island looks beautiful which is when you can see the HD effect the best.

Given that series 1-3 are not yet out on Blu Ray I cant recommend this purchase right now as there will probably be a box set or a re-issue down the line when they eventually release the other seasons but given only seasons 3 & 4 are out in the US it may be quote a while until we see them.

 Best season yet!

Season 4 of LOST was absolutely amazing. Even I, an avid and absolute LOST addict, will admit to Season 3 being slightly lacking. There was definitely an uncertainty towards the beginning of season 3 as to where and when the show was going to culminate. The producers, having decided on a six season format, finally ramped up the storytelling mid-season 3 and have rarely let slip on the quality of the writing and watchabilty of this awesome show. Season 3's cliffhanger was totally unexpected and despite the un-Godly wait, due to the writer's strike, season 4 picked up nicely where 3 left off and the pace was clearly quickened due to the shows final season being set. Answers being given out left, right and centre...albeit with more questions being raised along the way. The genius of this program lies within the writers ability to draw the viewer in to and leave us wondering what is going to happen next. Curiousity is surely their best tool, at least for the committed viewer. I understand why some viewers became impatient with the questions upon questions and gave up on LOST, however I stand by my feelings that LOST is one of, if not the most, intelligently written shows on tv to date. I look forward to seeing where season 5 brings us. Season 4 was quality from start to finish with episodes such as "The Constant", "The Shape of Things To Come" and the multi-episode finale "There's No Place Like Home" being stand out episodes.
For new viewers, LOST needs to be watched from the beginning to truly see it's complexities, which shows just how cleverly it is written.
Patience is a virtue and I have faith that this show will live up to it's promise. With episodes filled with action, humour, heartache and a deep underlying mythology, as well as cliffhangers that leave me shouting at the tv for more. I have no doubt when all is said and done, this will be one of the defining tv shows of all time.
As 'Irina Derevko' said in another of JJ. Abrams tv series, "Truth takes time".
