I remember the TV series get smart when I was a kid, so I was cusrious as to how this would turn out, the good news is, I would say that it stays true to the original series, I mean in the style and the type of humour. The bad news is there is no bad news, isn't that terrible? But Steve Carrell really fights the part of Maxwell Smart very well, he does it brilliantly. I have watched it 32 times already and I laughed every time it was just so funny,, particular when he was falling without a parachute, the cone of silence and the lasers, I laughed so hard Also has to be said the chemistry between Anne Hathaway and Steve Carrell actually works surprisingly well, both were perfectly cast for their parts. Is it really cheesy? Maybe a wee bit but I do not care, as it made me laugh so hard the cheese simply melted.Steve carell really does make me laugh, and he has done everything I have watched him in.

This is not the kind of movie that I find funny. Steve Carell's performance and jokes are annoying and uncomfortable.
The picture and sound are brilliant along with some of the extras on the disc but I really don't rate this movie at all!!

Very funny
This movie turned out to be better than I expected.
It was Funny ALL the way through, with good Action Sequences.
The Chemistry between Anne Hathaway and Steve Carrell was spot on and they were both superb.
The guy who played the Chief was hilarious. And there was a couple good cameos.
My only complaint was that Dwayne THE ROCK Johnstone was under used.

Just finished watching this film and as I tend to find these days, so many films are disappointing. This one however does exactly what it says on the packet. I really enjoy this films comedy. The story was fairly typical of this kind of movie, but lets be honest, you watch this film for the laughs and there are plenty to be had. Well worth watching and buying.

  Fun Film

I loved the 1966 TV series and I really enjoyed this movie take on the concept. It's worth a watch but not a masterpiece of comedy having said that.

  Get Smart Is Stupid.

Get Smart (2008) is an action comedy in which Steve Carell plays a newly appointed Agent in CONTROL. He's partnered with sexy Agent 99 (Anne Hathaway) and together they must defeat the evil forces of KAOS.

There's not much to like about this movie. Its cliched with a really dumb plot and characters you dont really care about. Although funny at times Carell is awkward as an action hero and its almost impossible to believe he could romance the much younger Hathaway.

There are a few good points though. Dwayne Johnson is pretty cool as Agent 23 and Alan Arkin gets most of the laughs as The Chief. Terence Stamp is completely wasted as the villain but there's a very funny cameo by Bill Murray.

Director Peter Segal (Anger Management) fails to deliver any convincing action and for some reason alot of the effects look a bit cheap. This movie attempts to mix silly comedy with thrilling action but fails to deliver either.
