After a young boy witnesses his parents' murder on the streets of Gotham City, he grows up to become Batman, a mysterious figure in the eyes of Gotham's citizens, who takes crime-fighting into his own hands. He first emerges out of the shadows when the Joker appears - a horribly disfigured individual who is out for revenge on his former employer and generally likes to have a good time, but the identity of the "bat" is unknown. Perhaps millionaire Bruce Wayne and photographer Vicki Vale have a good chance of finding out?

Being a batman fan for over 20yrs, i've seen this film countless times, and it is still as enjoyable as it was 20yrs ago. Is it worth buying on blue-ray? Undoubtably yes...i've owned it on vhs, it was one of the first dvd's i bought, and a couple of yrs ago, i replaced my vanilla copy with the special edition, this is a straight forward transfer, there is nothing wrong with that, it looks stunning and fresh, however, thats one of the problems, warner bros hasn't cleaned up the original print of the film, dirt and scratches are clearly visible in places, unquestionably, for a film which is 20yrs old the hd quality is instantly apparent, more so than the, batman returns blu-ray. So, is it worth it, yes and no, because i recently discovered that warners is currently in the process of remastering the original print and intends to release a 20th anniversary edition of the film this year, with added extras, which is why i've only given it 3 stars instead of 4.
Wow !!!

Warners - Well done you have done a fantastic job with this one. It was like watching the movie for the first time. The picture was so clean and clear especially for a movie now in its 20th year. Great to have all the extra's on one disc too-Love the Prince Music vids(Batdance is wonderful to watch-genius) My only slight gripe is the sound sometimes it was a bit muted in the surrounds don't know if it will sound better through a dolby true hd amp but glad i purchased.
