Summary: When wealthy industrialist Tony Stark is captured and forced to build a weapon of mass destruction after a life-threatening incident, he ultimately decides to use his technology and brains to fight against evil.

I only got a Blu-Ray player June 2010, and I knew after having the DVD that Iron Man had to be one of my first to get. I wasn't wrong. The picture qulaity is amazing, and Blu-Ray really does justice to the special effects. Sometimes it's hard to tell what's real and what's CGI. This is a great origins story explaining who Tony Stark (played by Robert Downey Jr) is, and why he is who he is and the main reason for his change in direction. Great action, great cast. One of my favourite Marvel films. A great way to put Iron Man in the spotlight. Even if you have no idea who our hero is, you have to see this film.

I'll start by saying the negative reviews are rubbish. The blu ray is crystal clear throughout it sound brilliant. The movie is one of the best mavel has released. 10/10

Its a shame that this film was so poor.It is not up there with the dark knight.Mickey rourke was poor compared with his performance in the expendables.Paltrow put in her worst shift in a while and they even tried to shoe horn a comedy fury and black widow side story.
Director John Favereaux gives himself more screen time than Ironman? The only saving grace is Downey, but he milks it towards the end.

i agree with Spartan17. One of my best Blu-rays!!

I have a DVD of this and my Blu-ray copy is infinitely better. This would appear to be a quality control in Blu-ray production issue and NOT the print transfer. Buy it from Play and if it's no good i'm sure they will refund you being the top company they are. The movie of course speaks for itself.

Great film but hd conversion not great, it has great huge black bars top and bottom leaving a very small picture, Picture is very flat throughout with actors faces lacking detail and depth. the sound only works in 5.1 surround went set to spanish. a bit dissapointing considering this was an imax movie.

Superb Film, Superb Picture, Superb Blu Ray!

I must've had a different film to some of the other reviewers as this is one of the stand out blu's of my collection. I bought this movie mainly due to the good reviews and cheap price and was surprised at how good it was! A superhero film to rank alongside the Dark Knight at last. Great picture quality and the sound was spot on. For this price, whats not to like?

yes buy the dvd! it is so badly grainy!! from start to end!.

i really don't belieeeeeeeeeeeve it! really enjoyable film but like the other reviews it was so badly grainy that i think Rambo looks just as good! and that's over 30yrs old!. I want to know why?. why is this blu-ray transfer so bad?. wonder why its dropping in price! cough cough!.

 Good film spoilt by picture

I bought this film on Blu Ray as I had enjoyed it in HD when it was on Sky Movies. I was under the impression that this was a good reference disc with superb quality and sound. The sound was indeed very good, but the picture was poor - the worst I have ever seen on a Blu Ray, more DVD quality. I thought I had a faulty disc but reading the reviews other people have written, looks as though its a bad transfer. Don't waste your money if you are looking for a good quality picture.

Great movie but Blu-ray picture should be better!

I'm not going to comment on the actual film, as if you are looking at buying it then chances are you have already seen it! My comments relate to the transfer and picture quality.

I was really looking forward to this movie on Blu-Ray but now I have it I really am amazed at the amount of people saying how awesome the transfer is! As someone else already said, this is certainly not a film to show off your set up with! In several places in this film, the background goes very grainy as do some faces in the foreground. The colours are vibrant and certain details show up very well, and the menus look superb, but overall the picture disappointed me. Dare I say it, but this is not to the standard of say The Dark Knight, which continues to blow people away when I show them the clarity of the picture! If that can be presented so well, then why not all recent movies? As an overall package including extras etc. this would definitely score 5 stars, but my 3 star rating is purely down to the transfer. In my opinion it could/should have been much better!
