Verdict:
A very good picture and a clear sound, the film starts unusually with a black and white video clip without the famous gun barrel (unfortunately), this black and white video clip which is nicely noisy does not interfere with the experience of watching the longest James Bond film (144 min), only preceded by On Her Majesty's Secret Service (138 min). You should notice the stunt-doubles of Daniel Craig during the free-run chase just after the credits, for instance, when he jumps of the crane and miss his landing. Overall, the best way to see James Bond in action !!!

  Strong Start for Craig

Certainly the best-written Bond, this movie expands on the novel with some exciting set-pieces, while ditching the gadgets and going for a much more rough-and-ready hero (very few quips from Craig; you're much more likely to get kicked in the face).

This Blu-ray version has an excellent picture transfer, to the point where you can see the deliberate grain introduced into some of the black-and-white sequences. The surround sound is also excellent.

The packaging is also high quality so this is currently the best version of Casino Royale there is.

  PREMIUM BOND!

Why should you buy this version if you already own the previouse Blue Ray or DVD versions?
Simple.... The film is one of, if not the best of all the Bond movies! Daniel Craig has the potential to be the best Bond ever, but know doubt people will still say Connery still is.
But this Delux Edition is worth shelling out for because of the flashy packaging, and the masses of extra features that are covered over the two discs, something that was seriously lacking from the previouse editions.
As for the movie, it's the best reboot since Batman Begins, and makes Bond a very formidable character, gone are the gadges, in is the bone crunching fights. This film seriously dates every other Bond film before, even the recent Brosnan's versions.
This is a new Bond for a new age in a more dangerous world, that owes alot to the Bourne Trilogy in the stakes of gritty action.
Of course you'll always have the minority who won't like this version of the Super Spy as gone are the campy jokes that almost killed the series in the mid 80's, and now the female roles are not just objects to bed or not just something to hang on to Bond's arm in peril. they are fully written characters with brains aswell as beauty.
This for me is the Best of the Bond movies and gives a classy film and very classy package.
You know the number, you know the game.
So buy this version and hope they give the slightly inferior Quantum of Solace the same classy treatment
Nobody has done it better!

  Bond has come of age!

I love James Bond, but one has to admit, after watching the Borne trilogy, the older films do look a bit silly.
This film has clearly been influenced by Borne, but that's certainly not a bad thing! The story is clever and has plenty of twists and the action scenes are spectacular.
Daniel Craig is a Bond for the modern world, he's gritty but but still suave; he's everything a secret agent should be. There's no cheap frills or pointless gadgets, this is simply Bond. James Bond.

  Quality Blu ray Bond disc!!

| | See all MANIB81's reviews (147)

This is my favourite Bond movie. Not just that but Daniel Craig is the TRUE character to what Ian Flemming originally visualized in his amazing novels.
This is a fantastic Blu ray to get. The Deluxe Edition is so well presented with a Collector's Booklet and crammed with great features along with a cool James Bond Trivia Quiz.
This is worth every penny and a real treat for any Bond fan!!

How Bond was meant to be! Excellent!!

As far as the film goes all i can say is excellent! Great action scenes and i found the scenes at the casino to be brilliant. Bond is back tougher and more believable as an assisan or spy with more depth to the character. Blu ray transfer is excellent with the colours jumping from the screen. A must for any Blu Ray collection

The most visceral and purely entertaining James Bond film in years - a re-invention of the spy franchise - is a glorious triumph because they get everything right. Some stunning action setpieces, a deliriously sexy Bondgirl who actually has something to do, an interesting villain, and a reining back of all the glib one-liners and ridiculous gadgets that have been bedevilling the series of late. But mainly it's the casting of ice-cold blue-eyed hard-bodied Daniel Craig that serves the film so well. The actor's wholehearted physicality easily makes him the true successor to Sean Connery's mantle.
