Ghostbusters (With Play.com Exclusive Ghostbusters Keyring) (Blu-ray)

The Best Comedy of the 80s. Ivan Reitman's Ghostbusters was a huge hit & it's hard to believe it is now a quater of a century old. Bill Murray, Harold Ramis & Dan Arkroyd are all on superb form as the Ghostbusters who clear New York of spectral beings. Sigourney Weaver vamps it up as sexy Dana Barett. Which leaves Rick Moranis & Enie Hudson as birt part players although they each have some cracking one liners. It's a credit to Dan Arkroyd he was able to pay tribute to his former Blues Brother's friend John Belushi (who was originally due to play Murray's part but died 2 years before) by creating the hilarious green Slimer, whose sceen with Murray in the film is one of the funniest. It's s shame number 2 wasn't as good & rumours of a possible third installment will be interesting to see. The original though still stands the test of time along with a catchy theme tune from Ray Parker Junior. Brilliantly funny. 5 stars!!!!

Who can not call this film is a 100% classic? so the film alone gets 5 stars. The picture quality is shocking. I messed around with my picture setings for ages and at one point thought my HDMI cable needed replacing I was that gob smacked by how truly bad the quality was.

Ghost Busters (1984) is a classic supernatural horror comedy directed by Ivan Reitman (Twins) and starring Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Rick Moranis and Sigourney Weaver.

Although the special effects look a little bit dated nowdays its the comic genius of the cast which really make this movie the classic it has become. Murray is superb showing real charm and charasma as a leading man while Aykroyd and Ramis ably support with each earning big laughs along the way. Special mention should also be made of Moranis who has a small role but shines in every scene.

The Blu-Ray transfer is very disappointing though. The picture is very grainy and it doesn't look as though much care has been taken to clean it up. Older films can be made to look stunning on Blu-Ray (The Godfather, The Shining) if the time is taken to improve the print. Sadly it doesn't look as though that consideration was given to Ghostbusters because the picture is below par and actually looks better on normal DVD. Although in fairness the sound is alot better.

The extras are pretty much the same as you get on the Anniversary DVD Edition. A commentary, a few featurettes and trailers. Was it too much to ask for a feature length making of documentary? The Play.com Exclusive Keyring is cool though.

A classic movie but not the best Blu-Ray.

What can be said about this classic 1984 comedy apart from this is one of the greatest films from the 80's.Despite the fact the film is 25 years old now it is still one of the most popular comedy films simply because it was like nothing else upon its release everyone must have seen this film and it shaped a generation of kids from the 80's.
I dont know anyone that grew up in the 80's that didnt like this film and most of those people still love it now.
The story is superb the cast is spot on and the performances that are delivered make the film what it is great special effects even for 25 years ago and now with the Blu Ray upgrade this film will look even better.
I cant wait for this release and expect that many fans will feel the same with the release of the new game and this Blu Ray The Ghostbusters are well and truly back.

What can i say? I remember seeing this 25 years ago at the Cinema on release date and this has got to be one of the best films ever "Probably the Best!"
From Special Effects to Humour it has it all! This will Definitely be added to my collection on release,
I have so many good memories of this film and i really hope they get on with the third film.
Even if you wasn't around when this film was released I 100% guarantee you wont be disappointed and will be surprised how good the effects were for its time.
To sum it up this is a Masterpiece 10 outa 10 for me!
