The year: 1879. The place: Natal, Africa. One British garrison has already fallen to a huge army of Zulu tribesmen. The fearless native warriors are now heading for the isolated colonial outpost of Rorke's Drift, which is manned by no more than a hundred South Wales Borderers.

A stirring tale of courage under fire, Zulu boasts fine performances from Michael Caine and Stanley Baker as conflicting British officers, and an unforgettable rendition of "Men of Harlech".

Classic film, average sound, am I expecting too much??

Zulu is a classic without a doubt. The picture quality on this bluray is excellent the best you can expect considering the age of the film, but considering they remastered the picture they have done nothing with the sound & you get just the plain Dolby Stereo track, hence 2 stars deducted. Paramount need to pull there finger out if they expect people to buy these films again(probably for the 3rd or 4th time) & just make that bit more of an effort

Looks so good you can almost walk into the film!

Zulu has never looked as good as this and it`s quite amazing what`s been achieved with a film over over 45 years old.Blu-ray does seem hit & miss with some bad transfers of older films(Bridge Too Far)but this is far superior to anything before. The only blemish is that sound wasn`t upgraded to 5.1DTS-surely wouldn`t have been hard to do but this really is worth picking up though.Extras seem to be largely what we got with the dvd and the best news is if you haven`t seen the film before it`s an absolute cracker:fine performances from Stanley Baker,Caine,Magee,Booth, sharp dialogue, stunning scenery, sparse but classic John Barry score and exciting action scenes. Not always historically accurate but I can forgive that as it`s one of the most memorable films ever made.

 WoW

Well what can I say? Zulu was always one of my favourite films and have owned it previously on nearly all formats.

I received this over the previous weekend and must be one of the best conversions I have had the pleasure to watch. It set's the benchmark for all future Blu-Ray conversions. Originally released in 1965? Looks like it was filmed a fortnight ago.

Excellent, highly recommend this movie even if you have it on DVD get the Blu-ray the difference is beyond magical.

 Amazing Sound & Picture Quality

Picture and Sound quality on this scale for classic film is the key reason I went for Blu-Ray. If you want a reference disc to show everyone what they are missing they you shouldnt look much further than this.

An all time classic movie seen for the first time the way the film makers intended and on 3 for 2.

Great Picture... shame about the sound

First thing you notice.... the excellent picture transfer. Better than most modern day blue-rays. Rather outstanding. The sound is rather disappointing though and if this was improved then a 5-star rating.

The films a classic but the fight scenes and violence is very outdated.

Overall this will surprise you given its age and teh number of times its been on tv. Well worth getting this though full-stop. People will laugh when you say you have got this - but the last laugh is on them :)
