Kill Bill Vol. 1 *****
Kill Bill has to be one of my favourite Tarantino films with Pulp Fiction. The film has an innovative and brilliant collaboration of music for the sound track, which lets face it isn't a surprise with the fact it's a Tarantino film. The film makes many references to the great films of the past.
Kill Bill really has to be known as a great, along with the legendary director Quentin Tarantino. The film was written stunningly, and directed beautifully by Tarantino. The iconic Yellow with a black stripe pattern has almost become as well know as the psycho shower scene music. The Kill Bill music is commonly recognised too, you'll have a hard time finding anyone who hasn't heard it. A good example of this is the brilliant reference to Kill Bill in Transformers.
The character of The Bride was portrayed thoroughly through the film and Tarantino and Uma are a great duo. I'd love to see Uma and Tarantino work with each other again.
The acting in the film was awesome on all parts. Uma Thurman was truly great and the role boosted her career enormously. Lucy Lui was great too, and played her role extremely well. She really showed off that she is growing as an actress and will certainly on the tracks to being a legend within the acting business. Vivica Fox was good in the small role she played, and she kicked ass! Darryl Hannah was stunning in Kill Bill, but doesn't really do much untill volume 2. Her character was built up great through the first film, and it gives the fight scene in volume 2 a lot more depth and tension.
Altogether, this film is a great film and will go down in history as a Hollywood great by an innovative and stunning director. As the film lies at the moment though, I think it's overlooked due to the other great films Tarantino's made. I recommend this film to anyone who hasn't seen it. Even if the film isn't your type of film, you'll appreciate it for the great film it is.
Kill Bill Vol. 2 ****
Kill Bill vol. 2 is another great film to add to the Tarantino Collection. The film is nothing but the continuation onto what was an instantly classic film. I can't help but think though what the film would have been if Kill Bill was a 3 hour film like originally intended. I think the film could have been a true classic as a 3 hour mammoth of a film. Volume 2 was definitely grittier and more effective than the first, but still retaining what we loved about Kill Bill.
The acting in the film was once again just great on all parts. Uma Thurman was Stunning and portrayed the character of The Bride brilliantly. David Carradine was absolutely great and really brought the film together. I still preferred the faceless enemy that we had in the first film though.
The acting on all other parts was great though and stylized the film into the old school category great.
The stand out performance for me though has to be Darryl Hannah, she was great and delivered brilliantly on screen. The fight scene with her and Uma was great and was one of my favourite parts of the two films.
I recommend this film to anyone and everyone. If you liked the first film then you'll definitely need to give this a watch, and it will not disappoint the true Tarantino fans.
The only thing that this and all the other Kill Bill DVD Products do not have though are the additional features to back up the quality film and give us the value for money.
