  Faulty disc two. Good supplements.

| | See all michaelmoller's reviews (1)

Before ordering You should probably consider the risk of having to go through the hassle of getting disc two replaced. I have bought two copies both with the same error - chapters 14-16 of Godfather II not playing on any of the players I've tried.

Except from the faulty disc 2, the transfer quality seems good. Disc four contains supplements, about half of which are presented in hi-def.

Great Blu-ray set, only problem with Godfather II

| | See all nlamste3's reviews (2)

This is a really good blu-ray set. The sound and picture never looked better, and I think it will never get better. Don't expect modern time HD picture and sound, but expect the best picture and sound given the age of the movie. For instance you see grain, but that's only because it was shot on film.

The only problem I have is also on disc II. Aprox 1h40m it stopt and fast forwards to aprox 2h12m. I purchased this a year ago and hope that Play.com will still want to help me out. I will let you know if they do.

  Godfather Part II Disc Problem

| | See all smoothdan's reviews (1)

Unfortunately there is an error with the Godfather Part II disc which causes it to jump/skip. I have looked it up on the Internet and this appears to be a common problem with the set (a bad batch apparantly have been produced). Play were superb with dealing with the refund though.

  two of the best..ever?

Much has been said about the restoration problems on part 1 and it shows, not a brilliant transfer but the coulours do shine through. much to my supprise part 2 has the best transfer, IMO, which is fine because it is the beat of the three, if you have been living under a rock for the last 37 years and not seen these films (1 & 2 that is, the less said about the third the better, not even blu ray can save it!) and can immerse yourself into the story you will be treated to some of the most powerful cinema ever, especially part 2. A worthy five stars for the first 2 alone, use the third as a coaster

  The Godfather of Boxsets!

| | See all MiniGuv's reviews (9)

This is a truley amazing Blu-ray purchase. If you are a big fan i would recommend that you buy it, if you have never seen the films buy it!

Having only the DVD boxset previously (not the Coppola restoration) the quality on each disc is clearly improved, however the true blu-ray quality only shines through on the third.

Despite this these are fantastic films with an extra touch of visual quality added through the new format. The great thing is that there is no change of disc for The Godfather Part II as on DVD (however after 2 hours you might want to stretch your legs!)

Excellent package.. but not for Greeks..

The quality is good the sound is even better.. about the films.. one word...classic.The problem for the greek buyer is this..if you look here in play.com about the trilogy it says clearly that it has greek subtitles..Ok now listen this:None of the three films has subtitles except the fourth disc with the extras!!!!The choice is your's...

An essental purchase for a fan with a blu ray player

| | See all KAV2007's reviews (113)

First, the movies are excellent... The only gripe i had throughout the years of owning it on dvd was the picuture quality and as part 2 was so long, you would have to load the 2nd disc half way through.

Having now got this version on blu, i was amazed at how they have restorted this movie.

Ok, it is not going to be demo material, but the picture now to what it was previously is amazing. The original source material was badly damaged or even lost in some places and a lot of money went into what was done to restore it.

The extras are also great, with 90% in blu ray, also on a seperate disc, so this is a 4 disc box set. In one of the segments, it shows how they actually restored the picture frame by frame, was very interesting and will show you how bad the picture used to be.

If you love the movies then this is really an essential purchase. I am very pleased with this and feel i can now watch the trilogy in how it was supposed to have been presented to us.

Hope this review helps.

  The Definative Version

| | See all Stubacca's reviews (9)

If you love The Godfather, get it. Some have argued that the quality is lacking and is similar to DVD. This is just Camera Gain and is due to the harsh lighting conditions of many of the scenes.

Overall, this version is the ultimate. I love these films, they are all-time classics (and have recently won Empire's Greatest Movie Of All Time Award 2008).

Well worth it on Blu.
