There is no dought about it,this film is one of the best comedys ever made. The down side is that I have been ripped off yet again by the people who create blu-ray. If they can not do a good enough job of converting an old movie into Blu-ray format then they shouldnt bother at all. This film looks rubbish on blu-ray.You might as well buy it on dvd because I cant even tell the difference.Dont waste your money.
Dumb & Dumber - what can I say? You either like this kind of full-on toilet-humour, or you don't. I still think that this rates as one of the best comedies of all-time, and it makes me laugh just as much now as it always did!
As far as the Blu-ray transfer goes, people need to take things in context and understand that this was originally filmed FIFTEEN YEARS AGO on a shoestring budget. The grain in the picture is part of the deal, take it or leave it. It's only more noticeable because our TV screens have gotten sharper and bigger. However, to say there is no difference between the DVD and this is ludicrous. The overall image is cleaner, sharper and the colours are more vibrant - just not in the same league as newer films, but still an improvement.
Just so people are aware, as per the title, this is not the original theatrical version. Purists can stay away, but for the rest of us fans, you get an extra 6 minutes of comedy gold at three key scenes. None of it detracts from the original, and suffice to say, if you thought the toilet scene was bad enough as it was...! ;o)
I'm not going to recommend either way whether you should upgrade or not fom DVD. Only you can make that decision based on the information here and in other reviews. Needless to say, I'm more than happy with the Blu-ray incarnation of this comedy classic!
This has got to be one of my favorite comedys of all time and i could not wait to upgrade my dvd to blu ray. The film is great and a must see, the audio transfer is spot on but the downside is the video transfer, I bought this expecting it to be better than the dvd video but this blu ray transfer is just horrible, its so grainy its even worse than the dvd. I would have given it more than a 3 if the video was better. id give it a miss or a rent at most.
This is simply the best comedy film ever ever, if you dont have it , shame on you. Buy it now from play.com
