Two narcotics detectives, "Popeye" Doyle and his partner Buddy Russo (Gene Hackman, Roy Scheider), start to close in on a vast international narcotics ring when the smugglers unexpectedly strike back. Following an attempt on his life by one of the smugglers, Doyle sets off a deadly pursuit that ultimately takes him far beyond mere New York City limits.

Based on a true story, this action-filled thriller, with its renowned chase scene, won five Academy Awards including Best Picture and Best Actor for Gene Hackman.

Ive never seen this movie before, so I decided do buy it in this bargain. I have to say that when i open the BD case I was surprised because for the price of 1 BD you get 3! Yes, 3! This edition cames with French Connection I&II and another BD that have over 8 hours of bonus features.

This is THE deal.

sorry about my english :)

ive had this movie on dvd for years and i was excited to get the blu-ray, however i dont think they have cleaned it up enough for it to be blu ray quality. still a great classic movie though.

Had been looking to watch this movie for some time now, due to it's reputation and the fact that it stars the legendary Gene Hackman.
I didn't feel it was the great it is made out to be, bear in mind I am watching it about 35 years after it's release.
And from what I hear it inspired a lot of the cop movies after that, so maybe I can't fully appreciate the impact it made at the time of release.
But I did enjoy it for the Story, Acting and the Gritty Direction.
Especially Enjoyed the Good Cop - Bad Cop pairing of Gene Hackman and Roy Schneider.
The Cat n Mouse chase at the Subway Station was really well executed.
No SFX Car and Train Chase through New York is fantastic.
On a sentimental note it was Nice to see the Brooklyn of the 70's, which became another character in the movie
