 Stunning!

Wow! I had the DVD version (and enjoyed that) but the Bluray is in a different league. Really impressive. Picture quality is amazing, it almost leaps off the screen, 3D-ish. But admittedly there are a few scenes where you think "that looks a bit poor." The opening battle scenes are transformed (maybe Bluray handles 'gloomy' better!) ; the arena scenes are also noticeable better.

The second version (which, oddly, the director is at pains to point out isn't a director's cut) adds about 15 mins to the original. Some lovely added landscape shots stick in my mind. Most of extra seemed to be about the politicing of the republicans behind the scenes, and it did change the character of the film: made it not just an action movie, a bit more political.

If you enjoyed Gladiator on DVD, you must get this - you'll enjoy it all over again! A fantastic 7.99's-worth.

I bought this one here off play judging by the other reviews it looks like I have the remastered version, (pocket blu logo on back and copyright 2010, says 2009 on disc's) it is really good and colours are fantastic but there are some very grainy and messy moments here and there, not enough to spoil the enjoyment of the film I'd still recomend it, altho having since seen troy directors cut I wish gladiator could have been more to that quality now tht's how blu ray should be :)

 Maximus definition............

I got the original release and was mortified by the transfer. Had it exchanged for the re-master. Massive improvement!
Excellent transfer, excellent sound, brilliant film........
Are you not entertained?

Reds, blues and purples stand out incredibly. I got the remastered pocketblu one. Some scenes you see things that you never did before. Some grainy parts but nothing to complain about, The sound is DTS 5.1, and the action scenes come to life. Overall great transfer..love it

 Much improved

I held off on this because of the much-publicised issues with the video transfer in the original version, but having heard that the remastered version was coming into shops I took the plunge. Sure enough, I got the new version - easiest way to tell is to look for the Pocket Blu logo on the back of the box and check whether the copyright info says 2010 rather than 2009 - and it looks fantastic. Why such a great film couldn't get such treatment before is beyond me, but all is forgiven now.

Excellent film now with suitably excellent audio and video makes an essential purchase for showing off your system.

 gladiator looks so new!

I was dying to get this movie on bluray as it's one of my fav films of all time and i saw it in the cinema and was blown-away!-i was a bit skeptical when i first heard it was being released on bluray as i was disapointed with the previous bluray release of Predator(it didnt look any different to the dvd version)I read a few positive reviews of "gladiator" before deciding to purchase it and was convinced to get it even tho i have the 2 disc dvd special edition already!!-i was well happy in noticing on play.com it was cheaper than the stores were demanding for the same film(21 to 25 pounds in some stores were asking for the bluray)..i therefore was over-the-moon when i saw it here on play.com 2 for 18(making it less than 10 pounds on its own)..i got the bluray this week and played and wasn't dispointed at all!!-the transfer has been decently and the picture quality makes it look like a newer film and one that is now 10 years old, also, the sound was far supireor to the previous DVD versions..all-in-all a welcome release and a good value for money bluray from play.com.
