Mission Impossible (Dir. Brian De Palma, 1996): Tom Cruise ignites the screen in this runaway smash hit. Cruise stars as Ethan Hunt, a secret agent framed for the deaths of his espionage team. Fleeing from government assassins, breaking into the CIA´s most impenetrable vault, clinging to the roof of a speeding bullet train, Hunt races like a burning fuse to stay one step ahead of his pursuers...and draw one step closer to discovering the shocking truth.

Mission Impossible 2 (Dir. John Woo, 2000): Tom Cruise returns as Ethan Hunt in this thrilling sequel, and leads his team in a attempt to re-capture and destroy the deadly German-manufactured Chimera virus before it falls into the wrong hands.

Mission Impossible 3 (Dir. J.J. Abrams, 2006): Tom Cruise blasts back into action as IMF agent Ethan Hunt who, with a little help from old friend Luther Stickell (Ving Rhames), must take on a deadly new adversary in the shape of Owen Davian (Philip Seymour Hoffman)...

 Ultimate Missions Collection? Not quite!

| | See all Fahrenheit's reviews (3)

Stunning HD picture transfer on all three films; M:I 1 looks pretty good, considering it was made in 1996 - Sound, however, is presented in DD 5.1 instead of 7.1.
This boxset doesn't contain ALL the extras on the standard DVDs. There are a few omissions. Extras are presented in SD.
Not exactly the ultimate collection Paramount would have you believe, but its good enough.

 A bargain!

This Review Will Self Destruct in
The first movie in the Trilogy that is about to become a Quadrilogy is pure Escapism.
Story at times doesnt make a whole lot of sense, but is fun none the less.
It is ridiculous but is told with a straight face, with hints of paranoia, and woks fine for this type of movie.
The set pieces veer from Good, the fish tank scene, so simple but very effective, to the Silly, the Helicopter in the Tunnel.
But the stand out scene in the whole enterprise is Cruise and his team breaking into the C.I.A building at Langley.
The scene is Incredibly, tense, Exciting and of course Impossible.
Surprisingly the film has not dated to badly over time, bearing in mind it came out in 1995.
The direction from Brian De Palam is very good and edgy, with Camera Angles all over the place.
Tom Cruise is just too cool for school as Ethan Hunt, and he is ably supported by an eclectic cast
including, Kristen Scott Thomas, Ving Rhames, Jon Voight, Emilio Estevez, Vanessa Redgrave and Jean Reno.
Do Watch. Very Good Fun to be had. But dont Expect the same type of movie in the Sequels.
Plus it has THAT theme tune. 4 Stars

Mission Impossible 2
All Style, No Substance
The 2nd Movie in the Series is the Weakest in my opinion.
You just dont care about the characters as much as you do in parts 1 and 3.
It starts off well with an audacious Mountain Climbing sequence,
has a decent Breaking In sequence in the middle and a very Good Action Sequence at the end.
The rest of it is a bit slow and pointless.
Cast wise Tom Cruise seems a little bored at times. Nice to see Anthony Hopkins in a Big Budget movie.
Rest of the performances are so so.
On the Upside this movie does have the Best Tom Cruise Hairstyle in the series and the Best Poster. LOL. 3 Stars

Mission Impossible 3
Awesome Adrenalin Rush.
As part 3's in trilogies go, my expectation for the Third in the Mission Impossible was pretty low.
But this movie was just Wham Bam Smash You in the Face Awesome.
Edge of your seat tension from start to finish. Intriguing story line.
First Rate Direction, Acting and Action Set Pieces.
Tom Cruise is full of bursting energy. Phillip Seymour Hoffman terrifies.
Everyone else plays their parts efficiently.
You actually feel Tom Cruise is in real peril, when he is attacked on the Bridge.
I Cant quite believe the perceived low box office of this Brilliant movie lead to the decline of Tom Cruise,s box office status.
The best one in the series for me. 5 Stars

Where is the DTS HD Master or Dolby True HD ?
