Denzel Washington stars as a government operative/soldier of fortune who has pretty much given up on life. In Mexico City, he reluctantly agrees to take a job to protect a child whose parents are threatened by a wave of kidnappings. He eventually becomes close to the child and their relationship reawakens and rekindles his spirit. When she is abducted, his fiery rage is unleashed on those he feels responsible, and he stops at nothing to save her.

This movie has one hell of an impact. Great performance from Denzel Washington as usual, he is definitely on fire in this film. Great story, probably one of the best revenge movies ever made. Theres plenty of action and suspense, and violent as hell, a sure hit at any cost!!

I found the film enjoyable but...

The ending of this film felt a little bit 'All American' to me. After investing my time in a film (this good) I had higher expectations of a more satisfying ending. I love Tony Scott's work, but this falls short of his best work.

A MASTERPIECE OF MAYHEM AND VENGEANCE!

This is the ultimate revenge thriller!
Director Tony Scott ( Top Gun, The Last Boy Scout, Crimson Tide, Unstoppable) re-teams with the always excellent Denzel Washington as a burnt-out ex CIA operartive John Creasy, who has lost faith in humanity, but slowly starts to finds humanity in the shape of a young Dekota Fanning, as he reluctantly takes up the job as her body guard, in the corruption fuelled Mexico city. Slowly Washington and Fanning bond, until Fanning is kidnapped and thought to be dead after a botched rescue attempt.
From then on Washington becomes a beast of war and unleashes a firestorm of relentless vengeance on those resposible.
With a great support cast from Christopher Walken and Mickey Rourke, Man on Fire is a near perfect film. It has one of the best child performances to grace the screen from Dekota Fanning, Washington perfectly balances his performance from a lost soul to a human killing machine. The violence is realistic and the vengeance is so rewarding as the captors meet their fate, but what rases this revenge thriller above the rest is that the movie has the biggest emotional punch that truly leaves you choked up.
This is Tony Scott's best film to date, and although we have seen many revenge thrillers in the past, this has to be the best.
The Blue Ray transfer is brilliantly crisp that makes the best out of the flashy editing, jump cuts and Tony Scott's trade mark filters, the sound is awesome and brings the best out of the brilliant soundtrack.
Although the bonus features are good, they have been transported directly from the two disc DVD edition, but with a film this good who cares.
See if you like....

Unstoppable.

Quantum of Solace.

 A classic but brutal thriller

What an amazing movie, I'd never heard about until recently when someone told me to give it a try. Am I glad I did, the movie takes it's time but never drags in any part to lure you into the story then ... BLAM! it never let's you go until the end of the film, you just can't wait to see what happens next. Denzel Washington is exceptional in his role as a washed up bodyguard whilst Dakota Fanning (in one of her earlier roles) is fantastic as the child who Washington is protecting. Well done to all involved, this is a 1st class thriller.
