  Surely, a dramatised documentary ...

Having recently watched this again, I find myself thinking that this is pretty much a true, if somewhat dramatised, story. It's hard NOT to believe that similar technology exists and is being used. It's just that Edward Snowden hasn't yet spoken about it, that's all. Certainly, Obama's recent speech alluded to such matters.

The second half of this movie is totally boring !!!!!

Action packed with a terrible and non sense story, even the picture and sound are not good for a bluray. AVOID IT

Some slick action sequences but a very very implausible story that didn't do justice to the slick nature of the film.
I can handle a silly premise, for example a Deep Core Driller Bruce Willis in Space, when all involved acknowledge the fun nonsense they are selling me.
But in this case the makers are making it out to be deadly serious and it just annoyed me rather than entertain me.
Not a fan of Shia Lebeouf it feels like he is being forced on the public and being slotted into big budget movies like Indiana Jones without any real talent.

Switch off, turn on...........get a sugar rush!

Because a huge sugar rush is about what this film amounts to when all is said and done.

Jerry Shaw (Shia Lebeouf) finds himself framed by an unknown - and yet all knowing and seemingly everywhere - adversary and then, subjected to their control he tries to both escape the FBI headed by Billy Bob Thornton and find out why he was targeted by them, alongside another young woman (Michelle Monaghan) who he has been paired with.

With probably intentional echoes of Enemy of the State, 24, 2001, North by Northwest and a dozen other genre films the level of knowledge the 'bad guys' have and the ease with which they can control everyday technological life could have been frightening if handled differently, but while it's still reasonably effective the final revelations about their controller also tilts the film into extreme silliness and it has plot holes that are simply huge!

That said,if you do switch off your brain (and I heartily recommend doing so) it's totally diverting for an hour or so, filled with cracking car chases, pursuits and explosions and the engaging cast are likeable enough to keep the viewer interested. It absolutely won't win ANY intelligence awards because it ups to the stupidity to unheard of levels by the crazy finale, but it might just effectively pass a Friday night for you!

It does for me.

  Shia the man.

Every film that i've seen with Shia Labeouf has been fantastic(Transformers 1 and 2,Disturbia,Indiana Jones 4,I Robot)but this is to me the best.
It wasn't as well hyped as the others but it turned out to be a rip roaring thrill ride.
Amazing co stars, stunning action and brill special fx this is the film of Shia's career so far.

  Michael Chiklis rules!!!!!!!!!

I recently bought this BluRay, not for Shia LaBeouf but for Michael Chiklis who is better know for his role as Vic Mackey in the US tv series The Shield. Chiklis is fantastic in this movie and although he only appears in around 20% of the film he really stands out and gives a great performance. It was strange to see him play a different character after so many seasons of The Shield, but I was overjoyed to see him in a big Hollywood action movie, albeit in a supporting role. I really hope that he is given the chance to make more big movies and move on from the role of Vic Mackey now that The Shield has finished.

The movie itself is a solid action film with a pretty implausible storyline, but it's a fun couple of hours and the action scenes are well shot. This is a definitely better than Disturbia, which LaBeouf and the director D.J. Caruso last made together.

On the negative side, I am getting quite tired of Shia LaBeouf now. He is a great actor but is becoming guilty of playing the same role over and over again. He could easily have walked straight off the Transformers movies and into this one. I hope that he tries to play different roles in the next year or so and before the inevitable Transformers 3.

Billy Bob Thornton is worth a mention as well as he plays a great character and is excellent throughout the film.

Overall, a good piece of entertainment that you can switch off your brain, relax and enjoy.

Look out for Michael Chiklis! He is fantastic! ;-)))

I was really looking forward to watching this after seeing the trailers and being a fan of Shia LaBeouf and was not let down.
Yes it is a basic update of the fantastic Will Smith film Enemy of the state but it does have a few diffrent twists and turns.
The idea is good and very beliavable these days with computers and would say to anyone thinking of buying this go ahead and do so but it is more of a renting option as there is very little rewatch value after you have seen it.

Enemy Of The State type film done on a larger budget.

Shia LaBeouf is the new mega star with Transformers 1, Transformers 2 which is out this year, Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull and this film Eagle Eye. Eagle Eye has a great plot with lots of action which you will find is very intense and very exciting at the same time. If you like your action films to be fast with brains too then Eagle Eye is the film for you. The Blu-ray picture is stunning and the surround sound is awesome too. Eagle Eye really is a must have film for action fans.

A truley awesome film, really makes you think what power the government has (I know it isn't possible, but it might be). Really good story, but i think it's a one time watch film.

very impressed, a good action thriller

I was firstly impressed by the opening scene, tense action which sets the background to the plot for the film, the plot itself if not wholly original is done in such a way to keep you guessing long enough to maintain the tension. interesting twists to the plot that you shouldn't see coming unless you saw / read spoilers. Good action, good acting and nice to see michael chicklis from the shield in a solid movie role ( instead of the thing in fantastic 4 )
