Television reporter Angela Vidal (Jennifer Carpenter) and her cameraman (Steve Harris) are assigned to spend the night shift with a Los Angeles Fire Station. After a routine 911 call takes them to a small apartment building, they find police officers already on the scene in response to blood curdling screams coming from one of the apartment units. They soon learn that a woman living in the building has been viciously attacked by something unknown. After a few of the residents are also attacked, they try to escape with the news crew in tow, only to find that the CDC has quarantined the building. Phones, internet, televisions and cell phone access have been cut-off, and officials are not relaying information to those locked inside. When the quarantine is finally lifted, the only evidence of what took place is the news crew's videotape.

I was rather surprised when I watched this as its better than you think the story is pretty cool and quite believable and acted out really well by the cast. There is lot's of suspense and freaky stuff going on. It certainly makes a change from your usual zombie, infection type of movies.

 rec-ommended

Simple. As an english speaking audience the terror and emotion of the characters carried over more effectively than the original spanish version.

Both films have some great visual fear, gore that is disturbing rather than exploitative and some great jumping moments that unlike most horrors arent just loud noises that come out of nowhere.

Disturbing and politically sharp, slow burning upto a terrifying climax, this is a rare treat: a great little horror movie and although a remake manages to throw in some new more effective elements than the original that needs to be seen in its own right.

It leaves you thirsting for more development of the mystery and has an ending that will please both sceptics and spiritualists alike.

Hopefully this will never be described as the best horror movie you've ever seen, trust me there have been many better...in fact....most of the others.
Seriously a horror movie must have a few key elements...tension....suprise.....shock......not predictable.
Other than one brief moment none of these boxes were ticked.
I think the director gave the cast one or two instructios like....run up and down the stairs.....,.scream as loud as you can....and ...please......try to look scared.
I'm glad to say generally i've been reasonably successfull in picking out 'blu-ray' movies...with this one i sadly failed....and yes the film though a different subject did put me in mind of 'the blair witch project' not to mention 'cloverfield'
If you really want to watch this...borrow it if you can if not hire.

 Very Poor

I saw this at the Cinema.
Most people walked about before the film was half way in!
REC is just as bad!
